I know some of you guys out there have tried both, so I'd like to know the pro's and con's of them both. My truck is pretty much stock aside from the DD true torque power module. Yea, I know ... I need exhaust.

Thanks, Steve.

I've had DDIII's in since spring, I tow all the time and no problems or complaints. Depending on the wieght of the load, I usually leave the comp off, minimal smoke even withmy B-1, less with the HX-35. Also with the stock HX EGT's weren't a problem.

i sure wouldn't go larger than dd II's. the egt's with the box really climb even with II's, and if u don't have exhaust, cool air intake and filter, or a big turbo, there would be no way i'd use III's. Maybe even 275's may be your best bet for towing and reliability. I'm sure that some guy's will speak up and say i'm wrong and that they run top egt's of 900 and pull with III's, but i sure wouldn't. Just my opinion. really dependss whether u tow for fun, or for money and if u plan on adding exhaust, air, and big turbo.

for towing stick w/ the 2s on an eth. even w/ the 2s on my eth i felt a need to go w/ a pdr40 to keep egt down even w/ comp on 1x5

900* is a joke:-laf:-laf

1200* is the magic temp. you do not want to sustain temps over 1200*.

stage3s give good manageable performance and managable temps. It isn't idiot proof but is definitely livable and a blast to drive.

275s are a waste of good metal unless you pull 38ft 5ers for a living. 10-15k loads are easily handled with stage 3s.

If you're really worried about temps get a Blue Chip FMS and set it to defuel at any temp you like.

will the ddt module work?

Great advise guys, but will my DD true torque module work with DD2's or DD3's? What will happen with the boost with different injectors? Will it go up? I just don't want to add more fuel with the injectors without increasing the boost. Sorry about the basic questions, but i'm a converted 12 valve guy.

Steve, I am currently running stage 2's and love the drivability of them. If I put my box anywhere above 2x2 the smoke and EGT's go through the ceiling... . I even have a 4inch exhaust with a pdx hx35!

I would call keith at diesel dynamics and ask him his opinion as to what will work best with the TTPM and your application. Nothing like hearing it from the people that build the things!!

Cheers, Bill

DDII's or DDIII's

I'm contemplating the same thing. Some guys say if you get the II's you'll wish that you had the III's. So I ask Piers. He said go with the II's, less smoke 100 degrees cooler, and only 20 HP less. So I guess I'm looking for more opinions.

Who says DD makes the best 2/3s????

I'd give Quad at Quadzilla performance a call 888-842-6572. I took . 4 sec off my 60ft:--) going to his injectors:D:D. But I don't exactly run stage 3s;):)

Down here in texas he's pretty well known.

I talked

to Kieth at DD when I had my transmission and exh done. He told me I should not go to DDII injectors unless I changed to a larger turbo. I would really like to have more power but it seems that with the hy35 what I have is what I'm stuck with unless I rob a bank. JMHO

Like I said earlier in this thread, I tow with DDIII's almost daily. With the Power Max Comp off, but the EZ still on, EGT's are fine, even in 95* heat pullin' Steve St. Laurent's portable hotel (35' TT) in the hills of Kentucky. This was done with my stock HX-35. The guys that say, "Don't use DDIII's when towing", obviously never tried them.

I also have electric fans, which people say, "You can't use them on a diesel", I haven't had any problems with mine, and they're not even a high CFM flowing fan, but they work great.

I also tow with a Mitchell clutch, which people said "That clutch is just for sled-pullin'", BS, I daily drive it, tow with it, and it's absolutly fine.

My point is this, the guys that say, "You can't do this... " only heard from someone else, who heard from someone else, who heard from someone else, that you can't do it. I let my gauges tell me if I can do it, or not, and they say, "Bring it on". :D

Like Mark said, "Unless your towin' backhoes for a living, you'll be fine with III's. " I agree, I've towed up to 20,000#'s with mine(GCVW) and haven't complained once. There's to many guys that wish they bought III's instead of II's in the first place, makes ya wonder why?

Exactly!... ..... well almost. You won't have to worry about it after it's gone!:D I'd be surprised if a stock clutch would hold very long with an EZ(your sig) and III's.

Injectors & emissions?

I was just wondering if any of you guys have had any problems getting dd2's or 3's through emissions tests? Do you disconnect your fueling box's?
