I pick my 15k 36ft 5ver up next month(ordered it today). My truck is stock, except AFE. I ordered Jacobs e brake from the dealer yesterday ($550 + tax), the plan is guages from gino's, (pyro, boost, fuel pressure), DDIIs, edge comp, then I will do the clutch. The reason I want to do DDIIs over 275s is to allow a further upgrade on the turbo after the clutch replacement. Does this setup make sense for towing?? I've read a lot on the board and it seems this is a good setup with many happy users. I've been looking at piers for the injectors and edge. Should I shop around or are the prices not to much different through different vendors? Thanks for the help.

Piers is a great source and there are some others out there but with monthly specials it won't hurt to shop around. I'd find someone who you trust and deal with them. Two other companies that come to mind off the top of my head (use the search to find more) are Smokindiesel and Wildcat Diesel. URLs should be easy enough to find.

Related to your DD11s and Comp. Your clutch will probably not handle stage 2s with anything over an EZ (comp on level 1 I believe. )

I think it's wise to get the comp over the EZ but leave the pump wire disconnected to avoid temptation. At 7200' elevation, with my EZ and DD1s I can slip my clutch if I get after it - empty.

Good luck and hope that helps some

I just put in this combination DD2's & Comp. I chose the DD2's and Comp based on threads from guys towing heavy (12k +). The consensus was that you will use the full range (idle to WOT) of the DD2's and still be able to control the EGT and boost. Generally I felt that I would not be able to use the full range of the DD3's (idle to WOT) before I had to reduce the fueling due to EGT's and/or boost.

I put in gauges first so I could tell if I was screwing anything up with fuel or heat (FP / EGT's).

Next I put in air: ATS exhaust manifold, a much larger turbo, 4" exhaust, Scotty II before I put in the horse power (DD2's Comp) so it could use the additional fuel efficiently.

Next I put in the DD2's and Comp so that the DDT rebuilders would have the final combination to match the transmission to.

After reading several miles of threads I decided:

1. monitor what you have and where you are going (gauges)

2. do the air part of the mods next (hard to overheat with mods if you have not added any fuel mods).

3. do the fuel mods next to get setup to go to the transmission rebuilders (DTT)

4. do the transmission mods so you can get the hp to the ground.

Your transmission mods probably will be clutch upgrades.

I used Rip Rook at Source Automotive because I felt I could totally trust him, and it turned out I was 1000000% correct. Find someone you can trust!
