Is it the ddrp pump or the vp44 or what. I cant figure it out it just loses all fuel pressure for no apparent reason while im driving down the road, push the clutch in and shut the truck off an restart it fuel pressure comes right back up to about 15-16 psi driving 17-19 at idle an 10-13 at wot. Any help would be appreciated dont want to spend the money on the vp if i dont have to "yet" i have a 1999 2500

VP44 will not cause lost in pressure.

Is the ddrp hooked up to oem wiring harness, if so could be ECM or the ddrp.

I have read that a plugged screen on the pickup tube in the tank can cause a similar probelm.

But have also read the ddrps are hit and miss in getting a good one.

Are you getting any codes (you need a code reader/scanner for 99's).

Yes DDRPs are known to plug with tank sediment soon after installation, but if it suddenly drops to zero pressure I would suspect a faulty wiring connection, or the motor could be failing. On the last '01 truck I had the pump would occasionally just quit without warning and cycling the key would make it kick back on. It gradually got worse then died a few months later.

I had the same problem with my ddrp. My problem is that i'm so close to Cummins South down here in Atlanta that I went to go get a Carter replacement and had a BD auxilary pump I installed on the framerail in conjuction with the Carter. I am running 24 psi at idle and 19 w. o. t. when the engine is cold, and 26 psi at idle and 22 w. o. t. when the engine is warm.

I agree, VP's don't want too much pressure either.

Stay in the green.

According to this post your pressure's look or sound good. Check those codes! How many miles on the truck? Any fueling box's?

I am runnig a DDRP and id is working fine. I do have the Big line kit installed. I never see pressure below PSI.
