Yesterday I was headed on a errand to middle Georgia when I passed a stopped 250 painted up exactly like my 350. The owner was a few yards away looking somewhat dissmayed. I guess it was the color since I don't always stop, even for Dodges, but I did. (I generally think that like myself, they have to get out and stretch from the stiff ride and long miles. ) A few quick questions and it was clearly the fuel solonoid not getting voltage. I have some wrenches but so did he. Used his fold up pliers and pressed the connector a bit and reinstalled whereupon on the next crank, the mighty cummins sprang into life. A few questions about one another and he went on his way with a smile. He was headed for Statesboro. Of course I told him about TDR and wrote it down for him. Gave him a quick run down on the common problems. Told him that his paint would fall off. (Showed him mine). He offered pay, I said help someone else.

So, how the heck do folks talk themselves into paying the price for a 15 year old truck (his was very clean and low miles) when they don't know about TDR and the problems that have already been solved a thousand times here.

James

PS

In case you don't recognize the core message, this is a reminder that there are still a whole lot of first gen owners that never heard of TDR. While I don't post as often as I have previously, I still try to let folks know about the help that is available here.

I had a customer I met for the first time thursday. He had bought a 89 4x4 5spd truck for $1200, with less then 200,000 on it. The getrag would pop out of first and second. He had got a rebuilt from Chicago, and had troubles with it, until they fixed him up. He had put 80W90 in it, which I told him some guys do they just shift a little hard when cold. Told him about overfilling it and servicing it often. Like we tell everyone else. I too told him of the TDR.

We are getting a whole new set of first gen owners that are learing stuff all over again.

Hey James, that is kind of spirit we've all come to expect from 1st Gen crowd... and yes, it's worth 10 bonus RWHP right off the top bud... . good on ya... :D:D:D

Same prob here

That same problem happened to me at the end of a long road trip, and when it quit instantly I knew exactly where to look. Plugged that connecter back on the fuel solenoid and viola! Thanks TDR!
