Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) dead tc?

I want to lock up my converter now it is stock. I have suncoast vb and want to help this auto pig slow down not drag race from a stop w/ it locked. should i fear for my tc or input shafts? or can i just expect slight increased wear to tc which I plan to replace as soon as i can?
