My supervisor happens to be my friend, and also a CTD owner.

I was going to order some filters from Geno's, so I asked him if he wanted anything. I ended up ordering some stuff for him, ~$35 worth after we divided up the shipping.

So... I gave him the stuff on the 9th.

Then last week, I mentioned I had a brand new shop light I was going to return to Sears since I wasn't going to use it. Well he wanted it and would pay whatever it cost. Ok... $35.

So, he's eyeballing new injectors... and I say, why don't you settle your debts before buying new stuff... like the $70 you owe me?

He's like... well I think I'm going to give you that light back... and probably the filters too...

W T F, over! I can't even use the fuel filter (98. 5 vs his 01). And I had order half a dozen oil filters for myself... I really don't need another 4 more!

Bugs me that a person can't take care of debts to people, yet can eyeball new toys. Not the way I do business, and F him next time I order stuff!

Sorry to say, but money will ruin a friendship faster than anything.

The other person is just taking advantage of the situation at hand.

Take the stuff back, say nothing and don`t include him in any of your buying situations. This will keep you in the friendship and stop the abuse of your generosity. Good Luck.

The thing is that I'm not exactly rich. While I wasn't counting on the money per say, $70 is a decent chunk of change. Could have paid for my fuel when I filled up last night.

Not really a friend in my opinion. I have several friends that will pick up stuff while they are in town and vise versa. If I am ordering something I know my friends will want, or concert tickets etc. I know they will pay me back when they can. If they were to "take advantage” of the situation they would not stay on the friends list. Whatever money I lost would be worthwhile to know that I was dealing with someone who would not be there if I really needed them. They move to the acquaintance level.

Just like loaning out tools I guess. My good friends/neighbors all have a key to my house. If they need a tool or whatever they borrow it and return it. Same goes for me. In the past I have ended a couple "friendships" due to non returnal of tools, or non-payback of money, bit so be it. I at least knew where I stand with them before I really needed something important.

I guess that’s the difference between acquaintances and friends. True friends you love like brothers/sisters and would do anything for, and they would do anything for you, least payback a small loan.

Totally agree.

If the guy can't pay you back he was never a friend in the first place.

I would never ever trust your supervisor with anything from this point on. You nailed it with the thread title.

Yes, I agree 100%. Sounds like he is using his job/title/position in an abusive manner. You know, I`m your boss so I can take advantage of the situation.

Not really a friend... Just a DeadBeat with a job title. ;)

Nate. .

I also, like Bob,will buy the 98. 5 filters,as they will fit my 98 from you. PM me and I'll make sure you get a number so you can reach me. Sorry about your deadbeat buddy but your gratification will come when he slip up to ask you why his truck has problems because he never antied up the money to join here since he has already shown he was to tight to pay you... ... . Andy

This remends me of a guy I've gone on some off road trips with. You can never go anywhere with people like this because it will make you mad. Whenever you go to a restaurant they MIGHT pay the exact amount on the menu with no mind paid to tax and tip. Same goes for a trip to grocery store if several of us are cooking a big meal. All my real friends pay their share or we take turns buying but not this guy. Then of course if you book a motel or rental house like we did last time he doesn't pay his full share. Deadbeats like that really get my goat!

Yea, there is a guy like this that likes to tag along with our biker group. After we get to the destination he lays this trip down about not being able to pay for a room or his dinner, or... . Not a friend of mine, so I just pass on helping the freeloader. Damn dude, you were able to buy a pack of cigs every couple of hours, and chrome for the bike, and drinks for you and the gals you meet. Kinda irratating folks like that.
