I just ordered a new 04 SLT 4X4 DWR Cummins for $500 below invoice, and I keep any and all incentives.

But the dealer added a couple of charges to the invoice that I would like to verify if they are common and reasonable.

1) Code T67 -Southwest Dodge Dealer Advertising Association fee of $275

2) Code B67 -Southwest Dodge DAA - PPA/EBPF fee of $210

I remember an advertising fee of about $120 when I ordered my 1996 Cummins Ram, but what is the other fee. Are they reasonable, or am I getting "STEALERED"

Also, what is the Customer One Owner Loyalty Mailing. And why do I have to pay $20. 00 for it.

I guess I should not worry about $485. 00 on a $45,000. 00 truck, but I just don't want to be told one thing and back-doored with bogus charges.

One last question, Does anyone know the markup on the Chrysler Extended Warranty. I would just feel better with the whole truck covered for the full 100,000 miles. The last extended warranty paid for itself many times. But $1200. 00 seems high when the Drive train is allready covered for 100,000 miles

Thanks in advance to all of the Guys and I assume some Gals. on this forum. I have been a member for I guess 3 or 4 years, and this is the best site ever.

I saw the invoices for trucks in Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico before buying. They all had similar 'advertising' fees and the $20 mailer thing. Just part of the game I guess

Don't know about the extended waranty, I'm decided to go with the standard stuff.

my suggested retail price msrp was 46k so i offered 41,500 (they accepted) and added the $500 in fees like you, but the fee's are included in the total (41,500) + title tax and tags.

good luck!

I bought my '03 lasty month in Reno and had the administration down th$1,000. I saw where it covered ,brake hoses, fuel lines, etc. I've never had a problem with the covered things, so I didn't take it. The transmission was my only thought.

What a load of Horse Manure:--)

Yeah right we need to pay to watch there stupid adds or fill our newspaper with junk? right

Tell them to take that fee out of there dealer hold-back it's worth at least a grand on that truck.

What next your truck needs to leave our lot with a full tank of fuel(because of liability issues) and we have to charge 50 dollars a gallon because of new EPA regulations. ;)

Hmmmm, let's see now, $275 for their advertising and $210 for the other stuff comes to $485. Pretty close to $500 "under" invoice, yeah right:rolleyes: !! I would tell them what to do with the extra BS , drop it or wait for the next sucker to come in ! Speaking of advertising , I removed the ****ler decals off my tailgate, they did not mention anything about compensation for advertising on my tailgate ,so, KMA !! :p

It's too bad that you don't have a dealer like Dave Smith Motors. They quoted me a price up front that was a lot less than my best--after two hours of haggling and playing the game--price from the local dealer. Yes, we had to drive to Kellogg, Idaho. We camped in the National Forest and made it a vacation.

I paid less than invoice, and did not pay those advertising fees. In fact, I worked with 3 dealerships in town, before closing the deal with my favorite dealer, and none of them attempted to add those fees.

But I was very up front about my desire to understand the total cost of ownership. I said very clearly, "Tell me the amount of the check I will have to write". It doesn't pay to negotiate truck price. What we really should negotiate is total price. This includes those crappy fees, the titling fees, the admin fees, and any other fee that a dealer may want to sell you. It's all negotiable.

We've had this discussion before and I "P'd off" a dealer that hangs out here. That being said, I'll happily do it again :p

Some of the dealers in this area do the advertising fee thing and some do not. The ones that do are mostly in the bigger cities. The one I bought from is in a small town and he told me he wouldn't get away with that sort of thing in his area.

I ended up paying the so-called "invoice" price.

DC charges every dealer those fees on every vehicle. Each "zone" has different fees, but they are added to every vehicle. An invoice that does not show those fees is not a real invoice.

Mo'Donnell,

Thanks for the reply.

I do not mind paying fees that the dealer is truly charged from DC. If those charges are on every vehicle as part of the invoice, then it is part of the cost the dealer has to pay. If I pay $500. 00 less than invoice, and the invoice contains the $485. 00 in Advertising fees, I will be a happy customer.

Oh brother. I have a "real" invoice and it does not have that crap added. If there's any "fake" invoices their most likely the ones with all the added garbage.

Does anyone know why my signature message is not showing up?

I have not changed anything. My profile is checked YES to attach signature, but my last 5 posts does not show the attachment.

My first post on this thread shows it.

What happened? How could I screw that up?

You would have a hernia - if

you saw what the US Govt pays for these trucks - I mean a Hernia! (and I mean Way - Way below what these clowns try and tell you their Cost is!)

Prairie Dog

ALL dealers belong to a DAA (dealer advertising association) and the fee (varies by business center) is added to EVERY invoice. The only exception is fleet (as in fleet bid, IE State of Washington), and employee purchase.

DAA monies pay for all the regional advertising. A dealer is not able to opt out of paying it. It gets grouped together and is spent by the advertising association for the benefit of ALL dealers.

So you can be assured that you did pay for it. The copy of the invoice you have most likely has it blanked out.

To put it another way, if you pay invoice you see these fees. If you pay or use sticker, then the fees are "built-in" to the basic price. Build a truck on one of the sites that gives invoice & sticker, and look at the differences.

Just another 0. 015$ opinion

SOTSU!!

PS: hmmmm, maybe I need to get a decal made up with my sig, for the tailgate - after tonite /morn will be GONE>>>>>>>>>on visits

Hmm, well, Iv'e got my invoice rite hear and nothing is blacked out. I also called two dealers and my invoice checks out.

I have no doubt I paid something for delivery but it was built into the profit. I also have no doubt that many dealers would let you walk away rather than lose this extra source of income.

Here's where the cheating begins. You and your salesman agree on a price. Then you go see the accounting guy that takes your check or sets up your financing. He's the troll that sells you all that extra under coating etc. He explains that above and beyond the agreed price, there are these added fees that he can't do anything about. This didn't happen to me. I specifically asked in advance if they were going to add any destination fees or whatever and was told "No".

To clear things up , the term invoice is a misnomer. Invoice is not what the dealer paid. If you pay invoice your dealer still makes a chunk of change.

My intention is not to make anyone feel bad about paying these fees. I suspect in many cases (or maybe some states) you just can't get around it.
