Guys, My dealer absolutely reeks. I have 58200 on truck. I still have remainder of 7/70 and the 100,000 on engine. I contacted Dodge after the last visit and being told the WHOOOOOO noise coming from rear end was being caused by the TURBO. Dodge advised to take it to another dealer. Tried 4 dealers within 100 miles of here. They all said take it where you bought it from. After stating I had. They basically told me to take it up with my dealer because they would not get paid for looking at it. At the present my front pinion seal bit the dust. And I need the reflash for 3 TSB's. While I hadnt told them about the seal yet. They told me I would have to pay $66 per TSB. Any one know a good dealer in Louisiana? Or just plain advice for dealing with the situation? Dodge is gonna back up what the dealer says so they dont have to come out of pocket.

call corporate headquarters and speak real loud a lot if need be. they will call your dealer and get the problem fixed.

That does really stink. I agree somebody higher up should know about your dealer as well as the other ones you took it to.

Good luck with it.

What a crock. A D/C Product is the same D/C Product found at every dealer's address across the us. Cry BBB if you have to that is just insane.

Call the dealer every day and complain to the GM. Call Daimler/Chrysler every day and complain. Keep good notes. I do mean every day until it is resolved to your satisfaction. Write letters. Send them the same letter if you have to. What's a stamp cost these days? Dunno, it's worth it.

If you really want to get mean and nasty, get some poster paper, write down the name (in big letters) of the dealer and how badly they suck, stand in front of the service area and pass out flyers about how they are idiots. Mind you, you need to be willing to speak to the cops, because you know they'll be called, but you are just peacefully protesting their stupidity.

Go get em!

JARichard, did you chech your exaust as the source of the resonant WHOOO noise you are hearing like I mentioned when this was being discussed on another thread? I had a similar noise that sounded like the rear end and the source was the exhaust, giving it a swift kick would make it go away for a day or two, replacing the muffler got rid of the noise. Check it out.

That does blow. As far as take it back to your original dealer, that's horsecrap. But I know how it can be fighting with a dealer.

Keep records of everytime you've taken it in.

With the flashes, it's my understanding that DC won't do a flash unless you experience the problem related to the TSB.

If you are having that problem, then it should be a free thing.

I would keep calling corporate complaining and tell them you want it noted in the computer that you've complained about it.

By the way, I get a whooing noise from the back of the truck also, seems more pronounced when it's cold. I have not bothered to have it looked at it, the truck only has 6k on it.

Nick

Now that I think of it, do you have an extended warranty? If you don't, then everything not a major part of the drivetrain is not covered, so you'll have to pay for the flashes.

7/70 drivetrain sounds like a great advertisement for warranty, but it's pretty much crap.

Nick

Why should i pay for a computer program that was put in wrong at the facory? I was going to wait and have them reflash when I lift my truck and recal. for larger tires. They charge you a one hour min. for that. So i figured they could reflash at the same time.

That is when he said they would charge a one hour min. for each flash. But my truck would be out of there within an hour. And my bill would be for 4 labor hours.

This sucks. Its making me glad I spent the $ for the 7/100k zero deduct D/C warranty!

Good luck. I had similar problems with the dealer and D/C years back when I had brake problems and my truck pulled really bad in any type of stop. The final solution was that I traded it in on a new YukonXL for the wife to a dealer that was a GMC/BMW/Chrysler dealer. That way I didnt feel bad that the stupid salesman didnt bother to check his resources before taking my truck in as a trade.

Just got off the phone with my dealer about the TSB's. He said the TSB's are not for public knowledge. And that any idiot can build a website and post anything he wants. So according to him the idiots are us!!!!!! And Chrysler isn't gonna pay for his dealership to reprogram my computer. So i will have to. A minimum of 195. 00 for 15 minutes. All labor NO parts

Whats the name of the dealer? If I were you I'd give them all the bad press I could. I had a similar problem; when I bought my 1995 I was living in Missouri, well I moved to Illinois and the local dealer there would make appointments for warranty work and then leave the truck sitting for two or three days, claiming they didn't get paid for warranty work, BS they get paid the same no matter were the truck was bought! I finally found a dealer 10 miles farther away that didn't care where I bought the truck. Stick to your guns and don't be afraid to make a scene (I'd make sure I did it when there is a showroom full of customers.

I'm not trying to flame you, but if the computer was wrong from the factory, why didn't you get it fixed during the first 36k?

Also as far as TSB being public knowledge, tell him that he's full of crap, any consumer can call the 800 number and have a copy of the tsb mailed to them.

That's what I had to do with my Dakota to get them to take care of a problem I had. Also, all the tsb's description are published to the web by the National Highway transportation and safety administration. So how are they not supposed to be public knowledge?

Why don't you try this - be nice & professional - meet with the service manager and suggest this : you probably need a rear diff service anyway (almost 60k miles) have them do the service - drive and listen for the noise - look for a poor wear pattern. If there is a problem, there will be no charge for the service due to the warranty repair. If there is no problem you now know this and you had your diff fluid changed. Make sure they use the correct fluid. As for TSB's - its your RESPONSIBILITY to bring your vehicle to the dealer during the warranty period to correct any warrantable item. Just like if you continue to drive with the front seal blown and you neglect to protect your vehicle by having it repaired ASAP D/C really doesn't have to warranty the resulting additional damage. Approaching this calmly, professionally, and rationally works with me 100% of the time - borish behavior, screaming, acting like a fool (nasty) will have you thrown out every time. The dealer shouldn't HAVE to repair your truck they should WANT to repair your truck. Good Luck! If your in Orlando I'll have the guys in my shop flash your truck - as long as your nice!

Niceness went out the window the window after my first visit. I bought the truck used. with 39000 miles. But the agreement was all fluids would be changed. Wich they were. I had 30 days to get anything wrong fixed. FREEEEEEE!!!! 3126 miles and 47 days later the electric lumbar broke. The rear end is whoooing @ 4776 miles and 50 days later. I bought the truck in on the 50th day for the whooing. The dealer claimed it was the TURBO. Then when my wife said " It really doesn't sound like it is coming from the front" The SERVICE MANAGER said, "I was talking to your husband Ma'am" He was just down right rude. And yes this was the service manager. When it got to 20 degrees here I rode in the back of the truck and had my wife drive. The noise is definately from the rear. I bought it back to MR. @$$hole. He said my complaint was noted and he was not doing anything else for the noise. And that was the day I spent 30 minutes outside losing my cool. Anyways, He is the biggesy dealer around for 100 miles. He cuts the prices low but after that you are on your own. The little dealers cant afford to price with him and not looking at my truck is their way of saying YOU SHOULDA BOUGHT HERE. Being a small business owner I understand both sides of the fence. We as public want low prices. But the little companies in small towns really suffer because of lack of volume.

wow, I feel your pain, and that sheds a whole new light on things. being that you bought it used with only a 30 day warranty, you're pretty much S. O. L.

They don't have to do anything if they don't want to.

It sucks.

I've been telling people all along that when I get new vehicels I always buy bumper to bumper for 100k because it seems that none of the cheap stuff ever breaks anymore, it's always the expensive stuff.

Sorry for your problems.

Oh well now ya tell us. That puts a whole different paint job on things. I think The 7/70 is non transferable so that may not be an option. :(

Out of curiosity, was your sliding back window open when you heard this noise? I remember hearing a whistling sound the first time I opened my back window. I closed it and the sound went away. I don't hear it when the side windows are open.

I work at a dealer and thats bs. all flashes are under emissions warranty. If you complain about specific problems with truck then its under warranty. Any dealer should look your truck. Especially if its 5 star. Call zone office or the 1-800 number and I bet they'll take care of the concern. If they want to keep their 5 star. All I know is our shop does not work that way,we take care of our customers. But we're far away from Louisiana. Sorry to hear about it

I agree! Dealers do NOT want to hear you ask for the 800 zone number. I've only called the number once and that was because a dealer parts manager couldn't get a part for me. The zone office had the part sent to him in a week.
