Dealer is a moron, agreed with Tschwab.

Well, I can see both sides of the fence.

If the dealer thought you had altered the OD by tapping into the speed sensor they have every right to void your entire vehicle warranty.

With the OD not being correct (or something along the lines of that theory) you might have 125,000 miles on your truck. Yes, the PCM/ECM will store the hours and miles, but the dealer has every right to deny your warranty.

Everyone here is right. The dealer cannot deny your warranty, DC has too.

At the dealership my dad works at a DC rep is there maybe once a week checking on warranty claims and approving warranty work.

If they see that your truck has a suspension lift the rep will VOID your power train warranty. If you think that voiding the trans/motor is not right you are kidding yourself!!! "The suspension lift along with bigger tires put extra strain on the trans and motor causing it to fail" That’s the stance they will take and win every time!!

You think for one sec that DC will allow a dealer to put a new motor in @ $11,000 for a problem without calling and verifying it through STAR first?? NO WAY!! Been there and seen that!!

My dad is a service tech at dodge and is very friendly to guys with mods.

My dad had a guy come in once a month to have the intercooler boot fixed. (Keep popping off) Well the guy was running a comp and he just kept disconnecting it. After fixing it three times my dad showed the guy how to fix it himself and the guy totally freaked out and threw a big fit. My dad said he could void the warranty if he wanted too but didn't.

The moral of that story is be upfront about the mods, don't lie or try to hide them. DON'T be an arse to the service writer or the techs they can be your best friends.

Just because you have (comp/ez/tstcr/downloader/big arse injectors) does not mean that the dealer will not fix your power windows or power door locks. They might not fix them if you tapped into the power supply to run something non-factory.

koop,

is this the same truck you had injectors in big turbo stacked boxes etc. ? i remember you saying that you had some funny engine noises after all these mods. if this is the case. .

"i am my own warranty station"

for those wanting to mod for big hp without losing the warranty while keeping longterm realiability buy a 12v.

Yep been thru this with Ford------from what I have seen and learned first hand it would be prudent not to post what you have done to your truck if it is still under warranty! My truck is all stock-yep thats the offical position.

Half of the time I'm wondering if this is BS? This is like the first time when Koop posted decribing how whipped he was and that he was going to sell his truck because his girlfriend or wife thought it was to loud. He never replied for days/pages of responses. Koop, are you posting this and not responding just to get us all going? :)Maybe you're too ashamed to admit that you took all of your HP goodies off before going to the dealer and tried to get warranty work? Now I'm not accusing you of anything, just asking!

I'm sorry to hear this warranty issue. It's a tough pill to swallow. I have gone though this exact warranty issue with my dealer on an exhaust brake installation. . In no un-certain words, I was told that if I would have that exhaust brake installed, that my warranty would be void. Period...

I decided not too as I had paid for the extended warranty which would have been voided as well.

Good Luck my friend.

Justin, which dealership does you dad work? I bought at Hinckley but I'll go see him where ever he is ;) ;) ;)

Play you pay! Part of modding expense and risk. They can't void the whole warranty unless the mileage is tampered. But they have more money, lawyers an expertise than most here.

If it was me, I would quietly wait until the 06 comes out. Then visit the very same dealer on a weekend and trade it off. By the time they figure it out, if they ever do, you will be in your new ride and happy as heck.

Do we even know the extent of the damage (repairs) needed? It seems a bit premature to be talking about trading if no expensive repairs are required.

For those who wish to bomb, DC should offer a truck with NO warranty. That way there will be no misunderstandings. You get the truck way cheaper, do what you want to it, and warranty it yourself. I'm thinking that DC should give a refund to everyone who has their warranty voided. After all the cost of it was built into the truck. Now they bail and you get none of the money back. Unfair, but that is the DC way. Coming up on 3 weeks since they were ordered to buy mine back and it's still sitting out in the driveway. In fairness, they say it will be done this week. But then again, the state only gives them 30 days to get it done. Sorry for you man.

Thats the best idea yet. But only void the power train, not the whole truck.

How much would that save????

What was DC ordered to buy back??? Your truck??? Why???

it is in fact a felony to (tamper with any pollution control device) on any vechical that meet federal emission standards.

A felony? C'mon man, it IS a violation of Federal law, but it's not a felony.
