The coolant leak is just a dribble, meaning that after 18K miles you can see a tiny amount of coolant dried up on the head. I really do not think that it is a headgasket because it was leaking a tiny bit from day one. I will trade the truck in sometime in the near future. I have had enough of this and I plan to start all over again and NEVER to any mods to a diesel again.

Koop, the problem does not lie in modifying a diesel is "bad". The problem is you put to much strain on a stock engine. There is no reason for a coolant dribble, if the problem gets worse, i would install a new head gasket and I bet everything will be better. Doing slight modifications to a 3rd gen is great. For example, an edge ez box, afe intake, 4 inch straight pipe :D can make your engine breathe and last longer since your EGT's will significantly drop. However, using different boxes to max the fuel system out, big injectors to deliver that huge amount of fuel can make it much more powerful but EGT's will skyrocket. Thus, you need a large than stock turbo to accommodate the extra amount of fuel delivered. I think your main problem lies in the fact that you used such a large turbo with so much boost on a stock head gasket. Most guys, at least 2nd genners running huge turbos ring their heads and get rid of the head bolts and use studs. Basically the point is you can only do so much until you start breaking internals. Like those idiots with hondas, they take a stock engine with cast pistons/rings and throw a turbo kit on and wonder why the thing blows up. Well, it was not designed for all that boost. If your building a prostreet car with a huge blower, are you going to run a factory type head gasket? No. I would recommend having a leakdown test done on your engine and that might give you a better idea of what failed. Trading it in might be a good idea but I would feel bad for the sucker that gets stuck with your truck's problems.

I read the thread about the transmission/edge problem that DC resitricted your warranty...

SINCE DC READS HERE. I HOPE SOMEONE FROM DC READS THIS. YOUR PRODUCTS SUCK, CUMMINS RULES. YOUR HEMI IS A FAKE. YOUR PRODUCTS ARE ALL OVERSEAS/MEXICO JUNK. YOU DISCONTINUE PARTS ON A 5 YEAR OLD TRUCK! YOUR PAINT SUCKS AND YOU KNEW ABOUT IT. WOULD I BUY A NEW PRODUCT OF YOURS? NOOOOO WAY SINCE YOU GUYS ARE TERRIBLE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND STOP BUTTING INTO THIS FORUMS CONVERSATIONS. GO LEARN HOW TO PAINT A TRUCK INSTEAD.

That felt good to get it off my chest.

Did you ever get to the bottom of your letter? That is awful creepy... :(

Nope. I sent the guy at DC 3 different letters regarding this issue, and I never heard word one back. Two of those letters were with a return receipt requested and I never even got the receipt back!

This shows, to me anyhow, that customer service is not high on the DC priority scale. Their main goal is to sell trucks and make money. What can we do if they refuse to communicate back with us? Not a great deal I fear.

You hit that one on the head.

All they want in to sell trucks and screw people when it comes time to fix them. That is why they never ever want to buy back lemons. Atleast ford has decent customer service and came to the plate on the 6. 0 and bought back lots and lots of them. DC sucks, without the cummins im sure 3 of 4 here would not buy the truck. .

Why don't you just go buy a Ford and be done with it?

I would have to ask myself, why you would modify your truck in any way if your wife didn't like loud noises and road in the truck. You chop your exaughst, pulled the silencer ring , added a hand full of power boxes and she told you its too loud. So you posted a thread a few weeks back saying your selling all your goodies and the wife still thinks the truck is too loud. With all the cars in your post, it seems you have more money than know what to do with it. I would suggest just buying another truck!

I am my trucks service station

PS- What happened to your Beta testers for the Auto Valve Body?

Cali-600 YOU GOT A GOOD MEMORY , i just recalled that post you mentioned.

Good point made.

I can only assume EBottema uses a long broomhandle to change TV stations. No "high-tech" wireless remote controls running out of battery power and leaving his TV hopelessly stranded on Oprah! :-laf

Ryan I have read a ton of posts on TDR and that is without a doubt the funniest one yet! :-laf :-laf

That is the strangest thing I have ever heard of. Really odd indeed.

I don't want to get caught up in the flame war, but y'all really ought to cool it. I don't see anything accomplished in name calling.

kcnizdodge, what about going to the dealer and getting that VIN write up whats his name suggested?

I have to take the truck in next week for the 33k service so I am going to have the service writer print out all the pertinent information on my extended warranty. We just paid the last payment on it this month so we will see what is REALLY on the books.

I have no intention of getting screwed by DC on this warranty. Not if I can help it that is.

I will let you know what happens.
