He drove it to far and allow it to sit ,everything form tank to injectors needs to be remove and replace except Tank. Tank can be cleaned and Reused. All lines, pump, injectors, rail, tubes Are ruined.

If this happens to you don't even start it, And I will even up this, Owner called with this same scenario, I said it should be tow to dealer or shop ASAP don't start it, he ignore this warning and drove it home and let it sit over the weekend until Monday, We'll his insurance company call Me on the situation and denied the claim after the Ram denied also, then he call's me and starts b**** that its My fault his Insurance denied the claim....typical loser, and blames everybody else for his ignorance.

Both My DEF gauges are dead on, When the needle is just under half I add 2.5 Gallons, it fills Full every time. I never fill form Pumps its just too dangerous, Yep I've seen those shuts off fail on numerous occasions. A lot of owners fill plastic bottles and label danger DEF off the pumps.

I have no problems pumping DEF from the pump. But then I have my cheapy pipe cap over the diesel fill to ensure nothing ever gets into the filler neck. Pump diesel first, cap, then pump the DEF. I also bring my DEF jug with me so I can fill 7+ gallons total when I'm empty. That keeps me going for 6 to 10 months. I've experimented with the auto shutoff on those units, the truck stop I use seems to have really sensitive hoses but it still sprays a little DEF here and there. I manually hold it at a lower speed and keep filling until I hear gurgling coming from the spout. Once I hear gurgling, I know I'm near full. Then I fill my 2.5 gallon DEF jug since I know I have more than a year's shelf life given my local climate. Ensures that I have the freshest DEF one can buy since truck stops go through it fairly quickly :).

My gauge works pretty well, close to correct. The 1.5" ABS plumbing cap does a good job of protecting the diesel fill neck. I manually control the DEF fill at truck stops because it doesn't take long to add 2-5 gallons, and also fill a couple 2.5 gallon jugs so I have a convenient source for more DEF and can get fuel where the price is good.

UPDATE...Allstate is covering the full boat. Dealer is replacing the fuel tank Filters, filter houseing, blowing out the lines and are confident that the injectors and fuel pump are ok. Looks like the two filters did the job. They were all crusted up. So far we are up to $4000.00 with a $50.00 deductable. Should be getting it back soon, still waiting for parts. More to come.

Awesome! did you have a special rider on your policy for "incident while not paying attention?" :)

The truck stop Def pumps are clearly marked and color coded blue with a compleatly different removal and filling system. The cost is about half of what you pay for def in a container. Just pay att to what you are doing and no one should have a problem mistaking def for diesel. If you do don't start it just call a wrecker and have the tank drained. Never ever start it, ever!

Just bought my 2014 3500 yesterday. I am so glad I came here and read this thread. I have been away from TDR for 6 years or so. Figured I had to get back on here and read up on all the changes on my new rig. This is my 4th dually, one of each generation.

Haven't you ever flicked a light switch on when you knew there was a power outage. :--)? We all do things sometimes without thinking.

That's exactly right, we ALL do things like that.

The thing is did anyone catch you at it or did you get away scot free????:D

Mike.

That is an excellent dealer. I think their not reporting it saved your warrantee.
which state is your dealer in?

I hope for your and your dealer's sake that no one in the warranty group of FiatChrysler reads this forum. We know that trans_engineer does, but this particular problem doesn't fall in his sandbox.

(Edited to remove reference to dealer name in response to OP's corresponding edits.)
