I was wondering if I bought delivery valves and put them in before my 370's if it would give me anymore power? Will it hurt anything running them with the stock injectors? Thanks

Go ahead and do the 370's. Those combined with the 3K gsk and a good plate will do wonders. You'll be thinking of transmission mods next . ;) :D

What about the other way around? Can the stock delivery valves feed the 370's sufficent enough? I have the stock 181's in my 215 pump, so obviously going to 191's would probably be the wise thing to do... . but how well does the 181/370 combo work?

Thanks,

Joe

It's my understanding that the 181/191 difference is small but well waranted for some applications. Maybe someone who has switched to 191's after some 370's can chime in.

My reworked 215 pump does quite well with the stock 181's fueling the 370's, but I also cannot compare to the 191 difference. Maybe I'm missing an upgrade I need. ;)

I would still go with injectors first for the pure addition of usable hp and decide on the 191's later. JM. 02

181's and 370's are fine, start there. Then maybe you can decide on bigger D-Valves. If you are not a fan of low end smoke, you may not want to bump up in D-Valves.

FWIW - my 180 pump with 215 injectors and 191 D-Valves was a little smokier during around town easy driving than the 181 D-Valves and the 370's that I have in there now. The 370/181 combo has a darkier heavier smoke down low during hard driving than the 215/191 but up top they have about the same hazieness during WOT The 370/181 combo has much more responsiveness and seat of the pants HP.

What kind of transmission mods Could I do to my 5 spd? I won't tear apart the transmission with the 370's will I? I know it will in the auto's

Upgrade the clutch. I have a South Bend Con O. If it has not already been done, a fully splined main-shaft is a nice fix for losing 5 th gear. I would change the pilot bearing out too. They eventually get dry and seize up. Been there and did that.

I have ran all four sets. 181, 191, 022, L/C. The 181 are very snappy with no smoke. The 191 have a bit more punch with little to no smoke at all. The 022 are a great middle of the road D/V, little smoke with a good punch. The lazer cuts are a {oh my god}D/V. The power increase is very good with tons of smoke at the low end. They can be controlable with very lite throttle and proper afc adjustment. I have tested the dV with a single charger and with my twins. The is no substitue for air with the lazer cuts. With a single charger the smoke never goes away. With twins it becomes a dark haze. Add water and it turns to gray!Hope this will help you with any desitions. Have a great day!

What are your dyno numbers with different DVs? I dyno tested 181, 191, and cut DVs and and a result use the lowest smoke ones, the 181s.

Joe,I wish i had a dyno close by but i don't. I use the old school method seat-o-pants meter. Thats the best way i can descibe them to other people.

Cool! I am running the #10 plate, so with a bump in timing up to about 16 and the 370's should really kick some a$$!!:D

Then throw some water Methanol on it and gain another 60 HP.

Naaa! I think 435 HP will be enough for me for now, until I save up enough money to get a fully splined main shaft and fifth gear for the NV4500 as well as an SBC. I don't think my Centerforce will live much past the 370 addition.

no plate?

What would happen if you run cut DV's and 370's with no plate at all? Would it be a good result or not? There are some around here who say to just pull the plate out and watch the egt's. What do you guys think?

this topic has me confused to no end.

i understand the delivery valves and their sizes. now there are all the different pumps 160-913? are the delivery valves universal so to speak or not? or like do the different sized delivery valves affect all the different pumps in the same matter or different? can you guys unconfuse me please. i would appreciate it.

The size of a delivery valve limits flow as I understand it. The larger the valve, the more flow to the injectors. Hence, if you are running 131's in a 160 pump with 370 injectors, you should get a stumble in the engine due to the delivery valves not supplying enough fuel to the high flow injectors. I think I am on the right train of thought, maybe someone can assist me in this explaination. :)
