DELL

 I am a pistle packer and this make me very Pi----off that someone can single you out because of your name:--) Is this Not America We live in, Maybe it because the parts they sale us are not, and Dell is just anti american.

 Sorry this is a goat getter and We need to stand up for our rights because a lot of them are going bye bye .

Sorry Just needed to vent ::mad:

Well then.....

Buy a Compaq or Gateway. Compaq would be my choice. You spend half the money and have a machine just as good if not better.

On the Gun note..... I have never owned a gun myself but I do believe in the right to bear arms if you so wish. Don't let them get to you. Someday they may need you and you can just say sorry I have this or that policy.

Hit them where it hurts in the purse stings.

Just my opinion.

Who cares about the list???

Cubbyholing and generalizing is the stuff of small minds- each individual or organization must be judged on the merits and on actions. I am General Counsel for several IUPA Police Unions in Virginia- they are AFL-CIO locals- my cops last time I checked were not anti-gun- I am also an ABA member and plenty of us are avid shooters and hunters- I take the list with a grain of salt- stuff like what happened with Dell is easier to jump on- Just my . 02- Union member, Democrat, ABA member, Conservative, Pro-Cop, Pro-gun, Etc,etc

A few days ago, my wife told me that her company had just inked a deal with Dell. Part of the deal was that Dell and the company my wife works for would subsidize employee computer purchases at $500 for one computer, regardless of purchase price. I was excited! I could get a hot, new computer for less than $1000!

Now this crap!!! :mad::mad::mad:

I have never bought a Dell, but I was thinking about it. Now, I have to re-think that decision. But the big question is, how many business do gun owners support that are anit-gun, but DON'T KNOW IT??? My guess, there are a lot. Sometimes you have to buy, work for or generally approve of a company, even if they betray you on something like this. The other option is to live in a remote location and be self-sufficient.

I recently bought a Ruger Mark II. To mount a scope, I bought a scope mount from Jack Weigand. Great product, great service. So, I'm heartened a little to know that I'm supporting a good individual and a good company.

dell computers

i appreciate the wealth of info made available. certainly, we all are not going to agree on all issues. i just like the healthy exchange of ideas. as was stated earlier most longterm harley riders know about being viewed as a type of person cause of what i ride, how i look or the ABATE patch on my leather jacket or vest. that's why, instead of griping, we are doing something with the legislative process. we are trying to introduce an equal access bill into the process. how would you feel if you stop at a restaurant and it is suggested because you smell of diesel you may want to frequent the place down the road cause they cater to your type of guy !!!!!!!!!!! that attitude is alive and doing well. if you consider yourself patriotic you may want to view this website sponsored by the john birch society. http://jbs.org bruce

Well we really liked our Dells, but I will never buy another one after reading this. We need to organize and send a letter to them to let them know it will be US deciding if or when we buy from them, not the other way around. We need a thread for the sole purpose of letting members know WHO does not respect legal gun owners, or shows negative responses concerning legal gun owners.

The first name I will be happy to list; ARP fasteners. I have a true story about one of their employees, they supposedly asked the employee and he denied the remark, they chose to believe him instead of the customer who the builds the Predator spyplane, I feel he should have been fired!

ANTI GUN

AS A LICENSED CONCEAL & CARRY HOLDER IN THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA IT DOES BUG ME TO SEE THESE COMPANIES GO ANTI GUN. NOW I DO NOT BELEIVE DELL WAS WRIGHT AND IT DOWN RIGHT MAKES ME MAD TO SEE THEM NOT SELL A PRODUCT BECAUSE OF EMPLOYMENT I WILL NEVER BUY A DELL. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I CAN SEE WERE BUSINESS ARE NOT ALLOWING US TO CARRY WEAPONS IN THERE COMPANYS WITH EVERYONE GOING POSTAL AND ALL. PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED BY THE GUN AND IT IS STILL THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS THIS COUNTRY FREEOo.

I'm just stating the facts. The fact remains that unions historically support anti gun veiws by supporting anti gun candidates.

I got out of unions a long time ago because I was sick of getting Mondale-Ferraro, and before that Carter literature.

It was interesting to see CUMMINS on the list of gun control advocates. I would think this would be a direct contradiction of the beliefs of the majority of people in this country that buy vehicles with their engines.

CUMMINS ANTI GUN

CUMMINS IS NOT SAYING THEY ARE ANTI GUN WHAT THEY ARE SAYING IS THAT THEY DO NOT ALLOW WEAPONS IN THERE WORK PLACE

There are many companies in Texas (ours included) that prohibit bringing firearms onto the premises. I believe the logic is pretty obvious when companies in industries such as ours (oil & gas equipment manufacturing) have had as many layoffs and plant closures as we've experienced over the last few years. I'm a gun owner, but I don't see this as a Second Amendment issue in any form or fashion - it's a workplace safety issue!

Rusty

I don't see a problem having a gun in a vehicle. I can understand not wanting weapons in the workplace, but if I'm going hunting after work I'll probably put my rifle in the trunk. I think this is a 2nd amendment issue. I do understand them not wanting weapons removed from the vehicle on the premises.

I don't think they have the right to tell me what I can store in my vehicle weather they own the parking lot or not.

The only exception being a secure area such as an airport or military reservation. I worked for American Airlines for a while and they are mandated by the FAA not to allow them because emplyees have access to aircraft.

Mark,

Then you shouldn't have a problem with most of these businesses. Our signs (and those of almost all other Texas companies that I'm aware of) are on the entrance to the building, not the entrance to the parking lot.

Rusty

Ther are many employers these days that state that no weapons on the premises and also state that random vehicle searches are possible.

You are right the vast majority don't allow concealed weapons.

My real problem is the population of the US not thinking for themselves and taking responsibilty for their actions.

If I crush a cup of coffe with my knees I'll probalbly spill it in my lap. And guess what. . it'll probably burn.

I am just disallusioned with our society full of lemmings.

The fact is that the guy pulling the trigger does the killing not the gun. The gun just happens to be an effective tool.

Mark,

I guess I'm one of those lemmings. The way I see it, if someone comes onto my property, I have a right to (for instance) ask that they not smoke in my house. Is smoking legal? Yes. Am I infringing on their rights? Perhaps. Am I exercising my own rights regarding what takes place on my property? Most assuredly. If the individual disagrees strongly with my request (read that as "requirement" if you wish), does he have a choice? Certainly - he/she doesn't have to come onto my property.

How does this differ from my place of employment? I'm coming onto another man's turf, and he's paying me for my services. Does he have a right to make his buildings non-smoking? Yes. Does he have a right to forbid liquor consumption during working hours? Yes. Does he have a right to enforce a dress code for his employees? Yes. Why, then, is it unreasonable for him to forbid firearms on his property? Personally, as a gun owner, I really don't get all hot and sweaty over this requirement.

When I used to go to the GE Plant where guidance systems and detonators for warheads and missles are made, they would do a search of my Ram inside and out, under the hood and under the chassis. No weapons or pornography. NO exceptions. I didn't have a problem with it at all. Just felt alittle nekid without "Aunt Cora" riding with me. She's very protective of me when I have to go to the scarey side of town at night. :D

Me feeling alittle self consious? I'm the kind of guy who farts in the toy store and blames the kids. Self concious to me is when you still have some beers left in the cooler!

I'm a registered Democrat but when it comes to the voting polls, I'm most likely to vote for the candidate who's most likely to leave me the  alone. That could be dem or rep.

Consider this scenario:

"I'm so mad that I got laid off, I'm going to go postal! I'm gonna get those SOBs that laid me off. " I run home grab my rifle, handgun, shotgun whatever and head off to the place I used to work. "Yeah, their gonna get theirs alright!" I pull into the lot, grab my weapon and head for the front door. "OH CRAP! They've posted a sign that says I can't bring my weapon inside! DRAT! My plan has been foiled! I better go home without killing anybody... ... "

GIVE ME A BREAK! If somebody wants to come into your place of work with a weapon, there is nothing stopping them in most cases!

BUT, as a concealed pistol license holder, having gone through a background check, I feel I should be able to have my handgun with me EVERYWHERE. That way, when some psycho comes into work to kill everybody (ignoring the signs of course) I can defend myself. Those signs are for the law abiding citizens, who ARE NOT THE PROBLEM ANYWAY!!!!

My work says that I can't have weapons on company property. Ok fine, but I work at a regional headquarters for a Grocery Chain. By the letter of the policy, I can't bring my gun inside the store to go shopping on my own time, but the company does not have explicit rules forbidding other customers to do so. Make sense? Nope. Maybe that's why I'm looking for a new job.....

Too each

At my workplace the sign is on the gate. They do not allow firearms of any kind and you do give them the right to search you and your vehicle as soon as you enter the premise. Does this mean they are anti-gun? No, this just means they don't want weapons on the premise.

There are rules everywhere. We can interpet them in anyway we choose. A lot of times we can let our own paranoia make our decision for us. We can blow things up to a point, and then try to justify our rant. The real truth is that they Dell is not anti-gun, just anti-common sense. After talking to you they should have sent your order ASAP, with an apology. Your company name is a little suspicious, but not the first or last to be that way.

A memo was put out at our buisness warning us of the rule of no firearms on company property after 9/11. We all knew about the rule. However a local superviser tryed to take a step higher and said we couldn't even have knives! Well, this didn't last too long. Like I have said before, No common sense.

I just noticed a parallel thread on another forum. These guys appearantly will give you $100 of your purchase if you have a CCW and are packing. I suspect that they are a progun computer company.

Hmmm. . . I wonder how many times they have been robbed?

Jack;

Dell is a political liberal suckup company. They pull this BS with you. They have been the official computer for Boeing the past 5 years. Boeing is a huge military contractor and arms supplier. They'll discriminate against the individuals based on liberal views, but suck hind faucet to corporations.

No more Dells for me.

Almost forgot something. I live in Minnesota with a rather notable Governor. He recently repealed a law against carrying a weapon in the state capitol building. His reasoning? " I carry a gun and will shoot back if you fire at me!" Sometimes, you have to love the MF.
