Costco has a $5 off coupon for the 3 gal box of Delo 400 15W-40; I think the limit is 5 cases. Sale runs May 13 to June 6.
So, who is running Delo? Any comments welcome - no flames! ;-)
Pluses? Concerns? I thought I saw something about a question going to the C-J rating?
I have pretty much given up looking for CI-4 Plus. I've looked at enough auto parts store stock rooms to give up hope. I scored a few cases of Delo 400 after the switch and a few cases of Premium Blue. Now I need to figure out how much additive to add to get the mix right.
I know there are those that say that the new brew has been blessed by those on high. But I'm pessimistic enough to figure that they aren't really concerned about my truck lasting longer. They might even want to sell me more oil because of shorter change intervals and even a new truck or two.![]()

CI rated oil is still readily available... Go into your local Caterpillar dealership and you can purchase it in 1 gal. , 5 gal. , or 55 gal. containers.
Its made by Mobil and is almost identical to Mobil Delvac... I THINK there might be some slight variation between the Cat and Mobil branded stuff... not sure. But I KNOW its good oil. Cat also sells the CJ stuff for the 2007 and up OHT (on highway truck)engines.
Lots of OTR dealerships, (i. e. Kenworth, Stuart and Stevenson) carry Cat and Fleetguard stuff, so you can get your oil and filters at one time.
It may be time to consider synthetic again. I just have problems running the miles required to make it cash flow. If I'm changing the filter, I might as well change the oil. Don't really want to put in a bypass system. Don't really like any of the options that I have now.![]()
Stewart and Stevenson an on highway CAT engine dealer? They have been Detroit Diesel and Allison for years.

Delvac doesn't have the odor that Rotella has.
