I can't believe Skobylenski (whatever!) had the good sense to purchase a Cummins..... He sounds more like a Dura-max owner! :D But then he IS from Vermont.

Drop the minimum wage, and replace it with tax cuts for the rich.

Champane Flight, do you think the Tom Daschles/Algores would go for that???LMAO!!!!:D

I can't even begin to imagine what the press would do to the people that suggested that, WOW! (not a bad idea though, almost conservative, you feel ok?)

Unions force jobs out of this country... ... . perhaps, but we would be in sorry shape if it wasn't for the Unions.

The EPA has forced more business out of this country than any union.

We should have organized the Iraqis,

STRIKE!

BANG!

OK! Changed our minds! We go back to work now!!LOL

And yes, we should tariff the hell out of any product crossing our borders.

The source of wealth is money. Nothing else.

That's funny Neal,, last time I checked,, Mexico (which operates under your philosophy) has money with little value. If I take $10 American across the border,, I can buy $100 worth of Mexican products, and vice-versa, If a Mexican brings $10 of his "peso's" he can barely buy a soda. Not even a $. 99 Jumbo Jack, from Jack in the Box.

Increasing the amount of money circualting does wonders for the economy, everybody benefits until/while supply and demand catches up. When the amount of money stops being increased... . we are right back where we started before we increased the amount of money in circulation, except now, something we used to buy for $10, now costs $15. It hurts our pocketbook just the same as before,, but now the money is worth less.

This can get well out of hand,, you may want to look at other countries that have attempted your philosophy, and you may learn that it literally takes a wheelbarrow of money just to buy a loaf of bread.

What I would like to see would be money with high value. (Pennies might actually have value again!)

On another rant... .

A flat tax rate would be great!

With the way the tax works now,, with % of tax increasing for how much money you make,, I will stick in the best value/money tax bracket (lowest possible)

This year my Dad has the capability to gross over $400,000, and have income of $200,000. My Dad and I would be working approximately 100 hours a week, this is nice, very nice, but with taxes reaching 50%, are we going to do it? NO WAY!! Might as well be lazy, and work normal hours, lower our overhead, drop down a few brackets, make $100,000 less, but only lose about $45,000. We can have MUCH more time, ALOT less stress, and make nearly the same amount of money. Sounds win-win to me.

Why does the government promote laziness? That's what I'd like to know.

Ok,, Off soap box,, don't flame me. Just my opinion's,, hope they don't stink :)

Say's Shrimpy in his best Kung Fu master voice "Ah Merrick, you are wise beyond your years... ... " My brother just figured out that big GROSS does not equal big NET. You are so correct about the goverment ENCOURAGING lazyness. As long as the business someone is in is not Capital intensive, it is crazy to go all out. At some point, as Merrick points out, it becomes a game of diminishing returns.

I also agree that unions DO have a place in todays workforce. As long as CEO's of PUBLICLY held companies continue to be compensated as they are, unions are needed. It's a different story if the Corp. is privately held, the CEO pay is only the corp. 's business.

I like both Flat and Consumption Tax ideas. I lean to the consumption tax because it is harder to cheat. Plus, who cares how much someone is paid, you only would pay tax on items you buy (not food or health care).

Having said that, I realize that there are some people out there that are trying to raise a family on the minimum wage but I offer that it’s their own doing. Everyone has choices in life and some people just don’t get it. If they had any education, they could be trained to do a more meaningful job and hence, earn a better wage.

Have to disagree with this. My sister has a Bachelor's degree in interior design. She's been in and out of school most of her 38 years trying to get a degree, to get a better job. She has also worked for several banks, in loan dept's, etc. what could be decent jobs. Companies don't want to hire full-time, so they don't have to pay benefits. They also pay at lower wages because of this. She still can't hit the 10. 00 an hour point. Me, on the other hand, graduated high school. No college. Spent 20 years enlisted in the AF. I could be making 6 figures, now, but choose not to, because of taxes. The only college class I have ever taken was a welding class, that I just completed last month, and that was for a hobby. I don't think education, or lack of it is the whole story. Just my . 02

I think sometimes we say education when we mean skill set. If you have a skill that is in high demand you can make more money. If you work for the gov. or a big corp. then they will look at the amount of education as a factor for hiring and promotion. I also think that the most important factor for success and big $$$ is your common sense. Some people have it and some don't. JMHO after years of work and years of retirement :D
