Is this so hard to understand?

The two different types of boxes do simply different things that's all.

The can-bus types stay within the timing limits, the other ones don't.

Questions?
Marco.

Huh??? Marco can you please repeat that in English??? LMAO... . (Just giving you a hard time. . ha ha ha)

Actually I was told a lot different by a local shop here in town that rebuilds Bosch pumps. Being that the VP44 is basically a disposable pump... they were speaking of how limited this pump is. I dunno. . just going by what they not only told me. . but what they showed me also.

From Brett at Edge Products, when discussing the fueling differences of the EZ and PE --- if the ECM sends too large of a number down to the VP44, the VP44 interprets that number as a ZERO. If that's not a limit, what do you call it?

The ETH pumps are limited mechanically compared to ETC pumps. That appears to be the reason you can't get the power out of the ETH like an ETC.

OK, I have seen many opinions here (mine included) What is the truth? I would like to know, and I would like to see factual evidence to back up why there is, or is not a software based limit internal to the VP44.

Marco,

What happens if the numbers sent down to the VP44 start getting out of range? More spacifically, over range? This question applies to boxes like the VA, EZ or "puck" and what they do to fueling. Edge claims there's no more power to be had with Can-bus boxes than what the EZ is getting.

Why do fueling boxes create more power than Can-bus boxes if the restriction isn't in the VP44 cpu?

Can you explain why we've seen the following results on countless dyno runs? Comparing the ETH to the ETC with a 5 speed - both have waste gates blocked off. When we add an EZ and PE to an ETC it has the same or more power than an ETH with EZ and DD3 injectors. If we add those same injectors to the ETC, it makes much more power than the ETH does, even with a larger turbo added to the ETH. If we add the larger turbo to the ETC it has more power than any ETH has ever seen without pump mods, even with propane. If we add a fueling box to the ETH with larger injectors the power increases aren't there at all. Many ETC owners have reported 100 hp gains to thier trucks with the addition of a fueling box no matter which injectors are installed. DD says the differences are in the VP44 mechanicals. What is your answer?

I ask these questions because many ETH owners, after paying extra for the "more powerful" engine, are fustrated with their BOMBing results when compared to the "less powerful" ETC.

Bart, you're asking the same questions... .
Get back to the ECM update thread where I have already answered your questions about the fuelling boxes.

//www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/003061.html

For the ETH there's no meccanical or CPU limit in it's pump. The ECM is different.

The ETH has several parts in it that limit the highest possible fuel ammount.
( The ETC's don't have them)

No way to fool the fuel limits in the ECM with any kinda add on box. The only way to modify those limits is inside the ECM.
I've said that also several times.
If you want to listen...
Hope this helps,
Marco.

I got the Puck fron the UPS guy today! I couldnt wait to try it out so here is my initial impression.
1. Idle has smoothed out, and there is no more twiching in the tach.
2. drivability is unaffected at part throttle.
3. at WOT the torque hits like a sledge hammer at 1900 rpm and does not flatten out like the VA.
4. more power than the old style VA I tried. (this is per SOPM)
5. a little smoke at low boost.
6. EGT went up about 50F
7. the pathetic stock ETH clutch WILL NOT HOLD!

My only complaint is that there was not a sticker in the box I could put on my window. If there is anyone at PDQ or Diablo looking at this I would suggest a six inch version of the "logob" and "pplogo" that is in the webmaster media kit. Just a suggestion.

Over the weekend I got to ride in Cdaledh's truck with that Diablo Power Puck. The thing hauls! The Puck definitely has the low RPM torque advantage... way stronger than the Van Aaken.

Hey, thanks Mike! Your truck ins no slouch either... Now I have to get a stronger clutch and the tuning software for the Puck. Looks like I will have to be careful, or I will have driveline parts all over the road.
hehe

cdaledh,
I'm glad you like the Puck. I've had mine for a while now and it's still going strong. I too am tempted to get the software but I'm not sure if I can keep myself from cranking it up too much. Maybe I better not get it. #ad
