Now I am Pi$$ED!

My Puck had been setting the infamous P1693 trouble code and Check Engine Light since day one. I loved the power it gave me, so I ignored it. After a while I got tired of the occational check engine light so I contacted Diablosport and asked them about it. They compared serial numbers and discovered that my puck was programed for an ETC engine not an ETH. I sent my puck back to Diablosport to have it reprogramed free of charge.

Thinking that I may get 5 to 10 more ponies out of my truck I could not wait to get it back. :cool:



I got it back yesterday... ... THEY FREAKIN NEUTERED MY PUCK... THIS THING HAS NO BALLS AT ALL AFTER THEY REPROGRAMED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before I could hit 35 psi (38 on the dyno) and turbo spool up was immediate, I had a really fat torque curve between 1600 to 2400 rpm where my truck flat flew. now I can only hit 32 psi and this is after 2400 rpm! Low end responce sucks, and my turbo spools up like a stock truck with 275's. I used to be able to put out a considerable ammount of smoke with the turbo down... . now there is not even a puff.

The tires will not break loose on wet pavement in 4th gear anymore.



I sent Johan@diablosport an e-mail about this... ... . this better get fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Powerpuck knows anything about customer service, they'll get it right for you... .

hehe, nice try... . I am down about 30 HP from the last time you saw my truck... . remove the EZ and we will throw down.



you with just the DD2's and me with my 275's and the ORIGINAL puck... . I would spank you. I think you would take me now with the EZ.



BTW does the little lady know about the new shower heads yet?
 
Nope...

What she doesn't know won't hurt her! hehe:D The only showerheads she's going to know about are the ones in our bathrooms. :D :D
 
Did a little testing..... with and without the puck



there was no change in throttle responce, EGT, Smoke, max boost, and turbo responce. It is like the thing is not even there when I have it plugged in.



This WILL get fixed.
 
i too have had problems with the puck on my etc setting codes. it was replaced with the new style non interupter one way puck.



with this new puck, power appeared to be down a whole lot. fortunately the local shop i recieved the puck from started selling the ez. he swapped me out of the puck and gave me the ez and now it runs like a striped a-- ape.



diablo sport has had numerous complaints from puck users, and also the chips for the psd have been faulty. this local shop will not be a retail outlet for diablo anymore because of the complaints and will now sell only edge products for the cummins.
 
when talking with johan, did he have any idea what was wrong and why the reprogramed pucks arent having the proper power increase.
 
He does not know... . but he thinks the "tune" in the puck is incorrect. Remember that these things are reprogramable... . it could be that when mine was converted from an interupter to a one way unit it was not reprogramed correctly.

Just got my new puck today. It is the one way, non interupter unit with the H. O Tune.



Has anyone ever ridden a Honda CR500? Well, if you have you know what a huge midrange hit they have... ... . that is how my truck is... I absolutely love it. on wet pavement I only have two usefull gears... 5th and 6th.



Cant wait for it to dry up!



1800 to 2600 it rocks. 2600 and up it is like a normal truck, and there is a nice smooth transition as the power flattens out.



Boost is now over 38 psi... measured at the intake horn. EGT is up a little, but not high enough to worry about.



It is about freakin time Diablo got it right... . it was worth the wait!

Glad to hear that you got the performace program in your Power Puck. I run a Blue Chip reprogrammed Power Puck and agree with the CR500 comparison. Sure puts a big :D on my face. :)
 
I will be seeing how it stacks up to some local trucks in a few weeks. I will re-dyno it on the dyno I established my baseline on also... . should be interesting to say the least.
 
Diesel Freak... Do you have a SBC clutch in your truck? Where are you going to do the dyno pulls at? I would like to Dyno my truck also. :)
 
How many of you guys with the BOMBers are going to the dyno days coming up on Feb 2nd? I would like to see some of these things run. My 12v would light em up in 4th and I want to do the same with the new toy.

I will be dynoing in Tacoma on the 2nd..... I am leaving friday night to crash at Rob Hansons..... and possibly some midnight BOMBing.

You guys should come up for the dyno pulls... . it is going to be a great time.



There is a dyno out here in hillsboro. This is the one I established my baseline with. The owner was used to only having healthy "street" vehicles on it, and you should have seen his eyes when he saw torque go over 750 ft*lbf.
