Guys I’m new to the forum and would like your help. I was towing yesterday with my 2001 2500 Cummins auto trans straight pipe has super chips tuner set to mileage. Had about 20k behind the truck and got into a long hill in 3rd gear everything going good water temp about 195 about half way up the hill she lost power and got real loud the sound almost reminded me of when it shifts into overdrive. I let off the throttle and then gave it some again it was fine under light throttle and the I gave it more it got loud and bogged down I let off and did it again same thing so I backed out by the time I got to the top of the hill all was fine plenty of power, sounded normal and I made it home no issues. The truck never did put out any black smoke as it never does.
Nothing seems out of normal today or on the way home nothing ever smelled hot and it started right up this morning I’m just trying to figure out what happened. Don’t know if I got my exhaust temp to high or if it went into some kind limp mode or what?? I did install a pyrometer this morning I know a day to late but it’s there now. Truck was running about 40-45 when this happened at about 1600-1800 rpm in third gear Any help would be great thanks
