Me personally I wouldn't own a Dodge if it didn't have the Cummins.

How many of you feel this way? How many of you like the Dodge, and would buy it without the Cummins?

My suspician is that the Cummins is what sells the truck--but I know not everyone thinks like me.

I like the Ford and almost bought one, but the Cummins sold the Dodge for me.

I bought a Cummins and they threw a truck in free. As one fine member said" I'm still trying to get the dodge out of my cummins"

That's what I always say. I bought the Cummins, and the Dodge that came with it was free.

I would own a Dodge even if it didn't have the Cummins. Almost all of my family owns Dodge trucks, and no problems.....

Family:

1 - 3500 CTD

2 - 2500 CTD

2 - 1500

3 - Dakota

We like Dodge.....

I bought both!! :D :D I have always been a dodge fan and have owned both gas and CTD. The Cummins has been the best engine dodge has ever used in their trucks and thats coming from a very proud dodge and cummins owner. :D :D

This is my forth Dodge truck since 1996, I have owned the following:

1. 1996 Dodge 1500 with the 360 C. I. engine, no problems with truck. :)

2. 1999 Dodge 1500 with the 318 C. I. engine, no problems with truck.

3. 2002 Dodge 1500 4X4 with the 4. 7 engine, no problems with truck. :p

4. 2005 Dodge 3500 DRW with the Cummins engine, no problems with truck! Oo.

Dodge makes one hell of a truck and they do have the best diesel engine on the market.

I would not think twice about buying another dodge no matter if it was gas or diesel powered!

If it wasn't for the Cummins motor, I'd have bought a medium duty semi. That may still be on my list to do as the newer RV's are getting heavier for the applications I want.

I was a die hard Ford man till 98. Then I bought my first Dodge. I bought the truck for the Cummins. But the longer I have owned them, the more I like the Dodge truck. I have to admit, that since 98 they have put less beef into the trucks. But so have Ford and Chevy.

I looked at the Ford and Dodge. The Cummins (1st) and the supplier discount (2nd) led me to buy the Dodge. If you had a Dodge and Ford equiped the same for the same price I would buy the dodge because of the Cummins. I just don't car for GM.

I bought the Dodge orginal because even with the Cummings it was the best deal around, the gasser were almost the same price, and with resale value of the Cummings, it was a bonus. $29,500 new 2001 SLT 4x4 with everything but leather.

The Cummins is the most impressive feature, no doubt about it. Neither Ford or GM have a comparable engine right now. I also like the solid front axle on coils, the fully hydroformed frame, big brakes and a cab that is big enough without making the truck any longer than it needs to be. The only thing I don't like is the interior, cheap cheap cheap, on my $45k truck

I go where Cummins goes, Cummins goes to Ford I go to Ford, Cummins goes to Chevy I go to Chevy/GMC, if diesel prices keep skyrocketing VW Jetta. But I think it is save to say I'll have the keys to my 03 Dodge CTD for a good 20 to 30 years. I love this truck. When to C goes into the Datoka that will be my wifes ride.

IMO the Dodge has the best styling of the Big 3 currently hands down. The interior on my friend's chevys are merely overly complicated and there's no real value added in most of the extra junk. The only thing I wish Dodge would add to the interior would be a built in pyro, boost guage and a real oil pressure guage...

When looking at trucks, I mostly cared about the components that went into them. In this case I'd been more impressed by the Cummins and the NV5600 than the other makers' combinations. By the time I'll sell this beast for a new one (hopefully 10+ years down the road) then I'll have to start the research once again into who's making the truck the most mechanically sound (best engine, transmission, etc)... To me the appearance is secondary to function. I prefer having a solid front axle over independant front suspension. On IFS you get 4 ball joints you can replace often if you want to do much work or off roading with it, you get to blow CV joints, but when it does hold together you do get a slightly smoother ride... Not worth the trade off for me.

So basically if Dodge didn't have the Cummins, it'd be time once again to evaluate them vs their competition as to whether I'd buy or not. Too early to speculate the MB engine if it ever comes will be junk, and too early to speculate about what the other makers will offer in the future.
