Both primarily Cummins but my cousins second Ford is making him crazy; mostly non engine stuff; brakes, running gear, turbocharger leaks, brakes

To me all 3 trucks are probably OK. My 85 Ford Diesel was JUNK. A friend buys ony Chevs. Takes real good care of them buy they rattle and seem trashy after 50k. My 97 CTD was pretty much trouble free and didn't rattle. My 04 CTD has been a joy. If no one made Diesels I would probably buy a Dodge on past experience.

Cummins first, Dodge second. If Ford had Cummins and Dodge didn't, I'd buy Ford, If both Dodge and Ford have Cummins, I'll buy Dodge. Chevy's not worth talking about. My first truck was a Ford, It was always in the shop or I was always repairing it myself. My next truck was 95 Dodge 3500 dually with a Cummings. The 95 went to Alaska and back and all over the US pulling my 29' 5th wheel. Never had a problem with it. It was never once in the shop, all I ever did was replace brakes and normal wear stuff. My new truck is a 05 Dodge, Cummins, QC, 6 speed, I will agree Ford may be nicer, have more goodies, but they are always in the shop and Power Stroke's suck. One to look out for is the 2007 Toyota, which will be big and will go head on with the big three, complete with diesel. Grizzly Oo.

Bought it for the Cummins. If Cummins was not available in one of the Big 3, I would go Ford. At least they give you a choice of seats. Dodge gives you one seat with different coverings and are all junk. I like the Ford Design/looks, but no Cummins. When DC finally drops the Cummins, and they will, Ford or GM will pick it up and with customers waiting.

When people ask I always say I have a “Cummins” because I am actually embarrassed to admit I drive a Dodge. Kind of like talking to Lexus drivers and telling them, you drive a KIA! My other car is a DC product but I am not embarrassed to tell people what it is!

Bought this '03 3500 because every Dodge/Cummins guy I ever asked at every gas station and rest stop I ever saw loved his truck. Gads, there were a few I couldn't get to quit talking. Had a 98 RAM before this one, superb riding truck, had two F-150's before that, they were ok, but this one is the best yet. Then there's the Cummins in the two shrimp trawlers I've had that made me my living, so

I'm a Cummins guy.

:{ Since 03 the FORD has not been ok. Read the Ford sites. Resale has got to be the pits for anyone looking to buy one and doing any research before they purchase.

Why Dodge?

80% Cummin's

15% QCab (Great compromise btw CC and EC)

5% Dodge

Been driving GM for 40+yrs, but now needing Diesel so defecting to go with the best - "C".

Just can't figure out why with the best engine around WHY Dodge can't figure to offer as a pkg (or better yet as std equipment and add to base price) a set of true gauges to go with that workhorse. I'll bet 98% of the people buying these CTD's would opt for this option. And I bet it would sell even more trucks yet... ..... I just don't get it!!!!!!

Also, Part of the 5% above is that the Dodge is still a TRUCK, Basic, like I think trucks should be - Don't care for all the fancy stuff. IMHO anyway...

Had fords and chevys for the last 25-28 years(one toyoata). I bought the dodge for the cummins engine. To make a long story short,I love this darn truck,it has been the best truck I have ever owned. No trips back to the dealer yet for any issues (20,000 miles). coobie Oo.

Definitely because its a Dodge. I have always driven them, and always will. I have never had a bad one. It really cracks me up to hear a lot of people say that Dodge trucks are junk, they just bought it for the Cummins. It's almost as if it isn't a manly thing to say that they like a Dodge.

I bought my truck for the Cummins, although I have been very impressed so far with the Dodge aspect. I came from a GM family, and had good luck with the GM's, but my 03 Dodge in my opinion seems to be put together better than the 95 Chevy Z71 I both new, may have been a Monday or Friday when the Chevy was assemble :-laf . I noticed on the 95 Chevy I had it seemed to have more interior noises, squeaks, rattles, plastic popping alot when the weather was cold. The 03 Dodge is over two years old now and still seems very tight.

If I had to go back to a gasser truck I would probably go with Chevy or GMC. Friend of mine has a 98 Dodge 4x4 with the 318 5/speed he bought new, and he's told me it has no power, mileage is sorry, and it uses about a quart of oil every 600 to 700 miles. Another Dodge gasser guy I know also had a lot of bad things to say about the 318. Said he wished he got the 360 motor. I know there are good ones and bad one in all of the Big 3.

The DODGE

This is my 11th Dodge truck. The first one was a 1936 Dodge Brothers panel truck The last on is the only one with a diesel (2004. 5) I have loved them all.
