I called Sears, they said the Platinum 1 group 34 is the only battery listed as a replacement for my 2001. But the Platinum 2 - group 65 - appears to have outside dimensions about the same as my stock battery, and has more CCA than the Platinum 1.

Stock battery is approx. 12. 5" x 7" x 8" high.

Platinum 2 is 11-4/5 in x 7-1/5 in x 7-2/5 in high.

Anybody tried fitting the Platinum 2's in a 2nd gen? Is there a concern with the higher CCA rating?

The guy at Sears said I may have a stock battery group 27 which is larger - but thought I would have trouble with the tie down top and bolts.

I replaced the oem batteries in my 02 several months back with interstate group 27's. I was replacing the original batteries, not because they were bad, but because they were getting to be almost 10 years old. The new interstates fit just like the oem, no problem.
