Will most EGT probes work on a smarty touch?

Hey guys, just read thru all this and a question comes to mind related to my truck/situation. A bit of info about my truck first - see signature for mods only thing not listed is no muffler 4" pipe from turbo outlet to tailpipe. Recently I was able to save the $185-ish annual registration fee "forever" by getting classic registration plates = I never have to pay an annual renewal fee. That being said, I live in Levittown PA and go over Burlington Bristol Bridge for fuel (typically $.45 to $.55 per gallon less) and have been doing this since I bought the truck in May 01.

So my question is: I read above about "deleted" items and all the fines when/if pulled over and inspected. Does the deleted mentioned refer to only newer (than mine) trucks originally equipped with emission control systems?

Thanks

Hey Joe, the NJ tax increase just went into effect. It’s about $.10
I think 2 gen trucks are spotty with emission devices. Check your under hood label (not the one on the engine) or post a photo here. it’ll tell you what it should have. I think your ‘99 is too old for any kitty. You are right to be concerned though. NJ does heavy roadside inspections because there’s no State Inspection for this class truck, and you’re advised that you should be on your best behavior in NJ. Refer back to post # 23 and 26 above.

Thanks for answers. Figured I'd be ok. I still have the 4" Magnaflow muffler that came with the system I got back in 03 after the original tailpipe went and have kinda been thinking of cutting it in on the 4" straight aluminum pipe I got at work, just have to get it or muffler expanded.
Answers to reply questions:
Jgillott- In all the years I've had my truck I never really towed or hauled much. A load of pavers, some plywood, etc. One time I took my daughter's 01 Sable on a U-Haul car carrier to Marysville, WA and that's it. Its led a pretty pampered life since I got it. Nothing in PA Classic plates info mentioned not being able to tow.
JR- Yes PA is different. They have; Collector, Classic and Antique. I forget limitations on Collector, but Classic has to be 20 years old and only "occasional driving" is stated, which they define as "not more than once a week"... prove it I say... I know Antique is restricted to daytime and to and from club meets and/or parades.

Joe, just be aware that there is language in the vehicle code fact sheet that I posted above that states "Antique, Classic, and Vintage registration plates may not be displayed on a vehicle used to transport people or property". It is under the section titled "Use of Classic, Antique, or Vintage Registration Plates".

Again, it doesn't sound like you use your truck for those purposes. But, just be aware that the language is there in the code.

As I mentioned, I have PA Antique plates on my square body Chevy. In addition, my main insurance carrier (Erie Insurance) made me move that truck from my primary policy to an agreed value policy for Antique and Collectors vehicles (American Collectors Insurance). If you haven't done so already, you may want to notify your carrier of the plate switch to make sure that your coverage is still applicable.

I only mention these things since I have been through the process before here in PA.

jgillott, thanks for insight. First thing I did when plates finally (took since April...) was to call my insurance (State Farm) they do not offer Classic insurance "until" the vehicle is 25 years old. I asked them "OK to just leave policy as it is then?", replied "yes".
