Anyone using a diesel fuel conditioner that is supposed to increase the cetane number and provide increased lubrication for the fuel injectors due to the USLD?

I've seen ads in magazines about them increasing fuel mileage and increasing injector life.

Any truth to this?

Please let me know your experiences and opinions, especially in regards to USLD killing our fuel injectors.

What brand do you use?

Thanks,

Louis

I've been using Stanadyne Peformance Formula for years on both my 2002 E-350 7. 3L DIT International and my 2006 Megacab 5. 9L Cummins.

I have used PS(Power Service) and MMO(Marvel Mystery Oil) since the truck was new. I have had 74000 miles with no LP or injector problems. I do not really see a mileage gain but do feel a performance drop if I miss a dose on a fill up.

I use Power Service also, Gray bottle, during warmer weather, and White bottle usually between October and April.

Different climates might use Gray bottle year round.

The White bottle has an "anti-gel" agent in it.

Once in a great while I will use 2-cycle TCW3 oil.

Power Service Diesel Kleen and MMO mix here also. Used it in every tank after about 7k miles after an injector failed. Installed new Flux 2 injectors at 90k and will continue to use it. Cheap insurance for a little extra lub and cleaning for CP3 and Injectors.

Cant comment on 3rd. gen but my 2gen. now has 486,000 kms and I have used howes meaner and mmo in every tank. Original vp-44 still going strong.

So what is the magic mix of Power Service and Marvel's? Any special ratios or do you dump in 8oz. of each per 25 gal as they recommend individually?

I use 12oz PS and 8oz MMO. On the PS it is 8-16 ozs per 25 gallons used depending on how high you want to raise the cetane rating.

I dont measure the ammount . The Howes meaner is about 3ounces in a fill up,generally 20 to 25 gals. the mmo is about 6 to 8 oz. this has worked for me in the last 485,000kms. original vp-44 and injectors. I have no idea if this is the reason for the long life of the pump and injectors. Since it seems to work I will keep on doing it.

Anyone using the Amsoil stuff?

Yes, I am using the Amsoil Diesel concentrate/Cold Flow improver. The last trip I took to Oregon from Utah, I got 21. 55 MPG for the entire 2013. 1 miles on 93. 4 Gal. Kept the tach at 1950 RPM!

if you use the 2cycle oil,,, use 22 ounces per 34-35 gallon tank. That makes a 200-1 ratio.

7)Super Tech Outboard 2-cycle TC-W3 engine oil

Unconventional (Not ULSD compliant, may damage 2007 or newer systems)

HFRR 474, 162 micron improvement

200:1 ratio

16. 64 oz/tank

$1. 09/tank

This is wrong,,,, this is for a 25 gallon tank.

This is the stuff to use,, good lube, easy to find and cheap...

I would only use MMO to clean injectors in the third gens...
