I called a Cummins mechanic to make an appointment.

I gave him a description of what was going on.

When cold the truck starts fine, when warm it takes more cranking and when driving around (truck already warm) the idle seems low and at times it has died (usually the AC is on).

He mentioned that he has begun to see problems with the fuel and the lack of lubricants. He started using a fuel additive with lubricants.

He mentioned that I should do the same. The problems I described makes him think that my problem is lack of lubricants in the fuel.

What's the word on the street?

Thank you very much,

Steve

since day one

I have used 10 oz of Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement to every tank.

There are several other benefits besides lubrication

96oz jug at Walmart is only $9. 95

Stanadyne

DCI Plus

Power Service

Howes

Seem to be the top 4 brands discussed around here. I use Stanadyne, and have tried DCI Plus. There will be a lot of opinions. Pick one and use it every tank.

Cenex Premium

A penny or 2 a gallon more and it has all that stuff already added. Might be the only stations that get fuel from their own refinery. On a trip Cenex always gives me my best mileage and Flying J always gives me my worst!!!!:D :D :D :D

Thomas 01,

Putting fuel treatment (additive) in won't hurt anything and will probalby help out a lot.

But as Don stated you mite need to bumb up low idle speed.

What is your rpm when a/c on and truck idling?

Is it hard to start only when a/c on or all the time when engine warm?
