Reading from a lot of you guys out there in TDR land, we here in New Mexico aren't doing too bad. I filled up yesterday in Los Lunas (about 20 miles south of Albuquerque) at $2. 15. 9 a gallon. I stretched it on this tank - 608. 6 miles on 32. 6 gallons. I'm hoping to get a few more miles out of this tank by driving a little slower.

Thank God the Bush Administration is holding OPEC to court on fuel prices... wait, no. OPEC keeps getting all the benefits of selling to the largest consumer of oil in the world while our beloved president looks the other way.

Before you flame away, I voted for the guy (the lesser of two evils)... as usual, I am beginning to wonder why.

In point of fact, I blame the press and OPEC for the spike in oil. Their hype about worldwide instability just gives commodity traders reason to so speculate on the price of oil, thereby driving it higher. Meanwhile, the international media has some sort of of lover-affair with OPEC and, instead of hammering OPEC for purposely driving production lower in an effort to keep oil higher, they spend more time complaining about the ills of the United States. OPEC and the int'l media be damned!!!

Still, if GB can conjure up and execute a plan to invade a country, you'd think he could apply the same ambition towards an energy policy that HELPS American consumers insteads of hurts us... such as constructing more refining capacity in this country. But noooooooooooooooooo... Since the Iraq war started, lumber prices have sky-rocketed, the dollar has crashed, oil has gone up nearly 200%, and our nation is so far in debt there seems to be no light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

I don't buy the "increased demand" excuse... it's bs. The reason oil is higher is commodity traders and OPECs greed.
