The DHRA is an organization whose goal is to provide sanctioning for diesel pickup drag racing. We want to provide a professional, organized, safe race for points. The DHRA will be divided into regional “divisions”. Each division will have a Director that is in charge of organizing the races, divisional sponsors, and keeping track of the racers points. Not every region of the United States has directors yet. Division 3 (Great Lakes region), Division 4 (Texas, OK, NM area), Division 2 (South East US) are currently working on schedules. Membership for the 2003 season is $30. This will buy the racer a divisional t-shirt, decal, and access to the official DHRA website. We are in need of accounting help and we need a treasurer to kick off this season and to start collecting membership money.
The rules and regulations will be developed as we grow. A committee consisting of the members will volunteer to sit on this committee. All racers will abide by the NHRA/IHRA general safety rules. Racers must pass a technical inspection at each race by a DHRA official whether the track has tech or not.
Each member will be assigned a permanent number that must be displayed at each race. The sponsor, or the number of attendees will determine the racing format. The racing formats will either be bracket or index heads-up, or an agreed format for a sponsor’s race.
NHRA/IHRA safety guidelines will be strictly enforced. We will have our own rules. All e. t. are based on a ¼ mile time. Some of those rules are as follows:
Catch Cans; 1 gallon catch cans permanently affixed to both the coolant over flow and the crank case overflow on all vehicles with Propane, twin turbos or run faster than 13. 99. Summit sells these for $14. 50 p/n SUM-G1472-1478. We can’t afford to be known as the track oilers!
transmission blankets will be required on 13. 99 or faster vehicles with manual transmissions and 10. 99 or faster with automatic transmissions.
Drive shaft loops will be required on all vehicles 13. 99 or faster. 4x4 must have a front drive shaft loop also.
Lift kits- If you have any suspension lift kit, you are limited to 13. 99 et or slower. Leveling kits are not considered as a lift. The actual rules are different, but after meeting with the NHRA this is what was decided.
