Extended idle time

How about a KLR650 DIESEL???

The model diesel engines have been around for some time. They do not burn diesel fuel, however. They burn an alcohol/kerosene/lubricant mix, to my best understanding.

They have a little more power than the glow engines, but they start harder, needing a little time to warm up. The engines have adjustable compression ratios, and will swing a larger prop than the equivalent glow fuel engine. Anyway, they are smellier and dirtier than the glow engines, as I understand hte lubricant doesn't really burn, but instead slobbers out the exhaust.

They are, however, very reliable, don't stall, and always start - something a lot of glow engine owners can't claim is always true.

Interesting! Didn't know that.

Whoa!!

Just in my league.

P. W. You are just about right on.
Diesel engines in model airplanes are 90% of the time a converted glow engine.
A glow engine and a diesel engine are about the same,, they both slobber up a plane pretty darn well.
A few complaints from Modelers is the Diesel Engines smoke alot more than a reguler glow engine.
P. W. is also right in saying it's not real diesel they burn,, it's more like paint thinner.

Anyway. IF you are interested in airplanes, they are fun,, and If you are good enough, you can make a living flying these things.
All you need to be able to do is travel ALOT, and fly Really Well.

Planes are more relaxing... Son & I raced RC GAS race cars for about 8-9 yrs. Still have the RC-10 GT and a Mugan MBX-4. We have the TOP . 12 CID engine in the GT and the Top-of-the-Line OS RZ-B 99 Edition in the Mugan. 1+ HP for the TOP and about 2. 4 HP in the OS. We haven't raced much in the last 2 yrs. Son finsihed 62nd out of about 172 people in the Reedy Modified Off-Road Nat's in 1998 in the 2WD truck class with a LOSI XXT Graphite Plus truck. Now Son's playing with Go-Karts & Blonde Co-ED's..... #ad
