When those guys scream for joy when they beat a Cummins it should make all of us feel good. Its things like that, that let me know the mighty Cummins is the one everyone is gunning for.



Its really a crowning achievement for a DMAX to win. Look at the top guys in every sport we compete in. All Cummins powered machines.

I dont think he did , the last event was the pull and he won it then drove around back to the trac were they had a photo shoot

Lest anybody forget, Michael has had his act together for a while. . He was together when the other V-8's were still exploding. But he doesn't just concentrate on drag racing. But as far as pulling, I bet there's not 2 diesel pullers in Georgia.



Congratulations to Mike. Good job. I just didn't undertand all this crap the kids on the other site were dishing out. But then again, it does give the others something to shoot for. Yeah, the Cummins is that good, just as we think it is. .

I was alot of fun being part of the first Diesel Power Challenge. There were some great guys with tough trucks at the event. I definately had my work cut out since they picked 5 twin charger Cummins (two with nitrous). There was 3 Fords and 2 Chevies picked so they didn't stack the deck in the Duramaxes favor after a Duramax won the Diesel Power Challenge West.



Here's a list of the 10 competitors:

Jake Henry - 94 Dodge 12v Cummins (4th overall)

Dustin Meyers - 05 Dodge CR Cummins (3th overall)

Jeremy Moss - 02 Chevy LB7 Duramax

Justin Pruitt - 05 Ford 6. 0 Power Stroke

Micheal Tomac - 02 - Chevy LB7 Duramax (1st overall)



I weighed in at 7500# and ran my heavy pulling tires (315x70x17 BFG AT's on H2 rims). I was the quickest in the 1/8 mile towing the 10000# trailer & quickest in the 1/4 mile (both without nitrous). I had the highest HP with and without nitrous on the dyno but I was 2nd or 3rd in TQ (not sure after they hand corrected the numbers for a broke weather sensor on the dyno). I was 2nd in fuel economy behind the other Duramax and 1st in the sled pull making two full pulls (using nitrous). I wonder if I'll be invited back next year to defend my title?

I've been over on the Diesel Place talking about the DP challange. Mike Tomac won, and you would thing the world stopped turning for at least 30 minute's. Are those folks alway's that sensitive and boostful? What a crowd.



Nobody here is like that?



I guess not all, but the majority are into this "chev rule's" mentality. I'm glad losing is something I've gotten used to.

No, Preston, we aren't all like that. There are a few noisy ones that yap the brand rivalry, but I think most see it for what it is: one event that required a very well-rounded truck to win.



The world didn't stop. I'm sure we'll continue to see the Dodges winning their events for some time to come.

Really, thank you for the clarification. I sorta knew that. The noisey one's are the one's you hear. Like I said, Mike's had his act together for a while now. The thing's that supprised me was the "Chev rules" thing. Are they that shallow minded? I guess some are. On this site, Chev is looked at as a very formidable apponent. I don't think anyone put's um down here. May be, but I don't remember it.

Preston, yeah, I think the Dmax crowd feels like the Cummins crowd throws lots of darts at 'em, and with some of the swagger you read here, people get to feeling like they're underdogs, and then when they do win, there is gonna be a lot of high-fiving and "we rule" and all that tomfoolery, mostly from people on the sidelines. It seems to me that the real competitors know the score and don't stir up much of a fuss.



You don't think anyone here put the Dmax down???

As far as the post about TOMAC lunching his motor. I was bored one night. LOL. Plus I figured it might get some info out as far as the results. Tomac winning the even can be attributed to all the advice sleddy has given him over the years... . and doing just the opposite. LOL.

NWPADMAX, I forget which truck you had, but I have a brother in law that would sink in his GM, than swim in the dodge, so he pointed out all the diesel place trucks at the pulls. What you said is true some of the guys on the dieselplace are really good guys, unfornately it is like everything, everybody remembers the bad apples.



Congrats to TOMAC, if he would have placed less than 3rd I would have been very surprised. It does take a guy that really knows his truck to dial it in like that. So be honest how long have you been testing and tuning for that event??

And Mike has been working toward what he accomplished for about 5 years, that I know of. He's earned it, for sure. How many night's has he worked and how much money is invested? Many and tons.

Nice job Tomac, I think its really cool that somebody else is also going out of their way to make classes the Chevys can win.



Now, if we can get the Fords caught up, we can have a 3 way battle, instead of Cummins domination since 1989.



However, the NE Fords are doing very well, and with the addition of Ben Millers Modified Ford, they are closer than ever before.



And, NWPADMAX did REALLY good against Painter, Miller, Amos, Coppess, etc. Tough class, and he was right there.







Say, if they pit the west winner vs east, I got $500 on Tomac!!!!

Seriously, though, money no object, I would have a truck from each brand and generation. I think people would learn a ton hot rodding each of the engines. More air, more fuel, just different ways of getting to the same point.



If people were paid by their brand to talk it up and dish on the others, then I could see being off-the-deep-end brand loyal, but has anyone got a check from any of the big 3? If not, run whatcha brung, and have some fun for Pete's sake.



What I'd really like to see is, along the lines of IROC, put 4 or 5 top drivers in the same truck, same sled, same track, and see who can drive the best. Maybe let them set up the truck with tires, pressures, etc.

Thats sweet, great job guys. I finished 3rd on the west coast diesel power challenge. In a 2005 dodge ram common rail on diesel only, and a 2005 common rail diesel only on the east coat gets third too! Right on! Steve

Growing up, I was mostly a Chevy guy, but loved Chrysler Muscle Cars. (Anyone who likes a Chevelle over a Road Runner is messed in the head. ) Dad was a Studebaker fan, and hated the big three, so I had that to listen to :-laf .



My last two trucks before my 89 Cummins, were 85 Chevys. TRASH. I don't even want to go there. However, some good did come of it, I learned the art of PARTS REPLACEMENT.



I loved the 89 Cummins, hated the truck. Then I got a 94,97,97,91,99, Joined TDR and learned very quickly, the Ford guys were very,very,VERY jealous of our Cummins(CumminGs to them).



Soon, you couldn't go down the street without hearing Ford owns CumminGs,and Dodge frames are weak. Neither was true.



So the Dodge/Ford rivalry set in to an uneasy 1,2 relationship. Ford sells more!! they'd cry, So does McDonalds, but we don't there, either, and we are kciking yer tails on the track, and the mountains.

The Dodge clutches were failing at an alarming rate, due to the rapid increase in power, and the Fords were trying to get headgaskets to hold(they never did have enough power to hurt the drivetrain) while throwing propane and nitrous at them for feeble attempts at making power.



The 6. 5 Chevy was a no show.



Enter, GMs savior, ISUZU. Good 6 cyl engines, didn't expect much from the V-8. But suddenly, Ford is #3, and the Cummins does not have a lock on 1-25 at the pulls anymore.



We all expected the heads to give, the drivetrains to fail, etc. They did, but not as much as we thought. Then of course, a Michigan Chev, who does know how to pull, sneaks in with nitrous, and wins a couple. Nobody likes drug users, and the poor kid wears that brand to this day, whether he still uses it or not. :{



The chest beating that came out of the Chevy camp, was incredible. 99% of them didn't know Chevy ever built a 5. 7,6. 2,6. 5 that were disasters, but oh my did they have the best Diesel now!!!!!!(If the sticker didn't say Diesel fuel Only, they would all be in trouble! )



So now you have disgruntled Dodge owners who are losing their #1 spot at the track, The Ford guys that lost #2,and never mind the animosity from NASCAR mixed in, and you wonder why there is some bench racing/brand loyalty going on?



I wouldn't have it any other way. Oo.





Oh yea, IROC of pulling?



I would win, period.
