To revive an old thread the hard way... ... I just saw the new fuel price for diesel here near my home...

$3. 059

Yeck!

John, I am happy to see you post again. I hope all is well :) Is PJ home ?

Some times we all think with small minds. Bush & the government have nothing to do with the price of oil. They are a easy target but it is the oil companies themselves that are to blame. I love it when we whine & cry " there is nothing that we can do". Yes there is, & no you are right. First what we do will not affect the oil companies. They have us over a barrel { of oil } and they know it. They will keep tucking it to us as long as they can. We can push for governmental to develop alternative fuels, and fuel sources. Second, I just love the wining “we can not do anything about it. ” I'll bet you drive at 65mph or higher on the interstate and you make aggressive stops & starts. I drive the interstate at 55mph and watch every other vehicle pass me going well over the speed limit. When I say I'm the slowest one on the rd. that is a fact. I get people on my bumper blowing their horns because I do not take off fast enough from stop signs. Thirty years ago we went through the same thing. Except it was much worse. Prices were much higher in relation to wages & the value of the dollar. There were lines fuel rationing, od numbers filled up Mon. , Weds. , & Fri. , even numbers Tue. , Thurs. , & Sat. There was a nation wide speed limit set of 55mph because it conserved so much fuel. During World War II it was even worse than that. You were give allotments and that was all of the fuel you were going to get. That was it.

So stop your wining & crying & blaming others. Learn to act in a responsible manner & drive more conservingly. You will use less fuel and have more money in your pockets.

PS. If this really pisses some of you off, my apologies. It just means that you know what I have written is the truth. Grow up & live with it.

"Bush and the govt. have nothing to do with the price of oil... . " Your argument doesn't hold water or oil. They really have alot to do with it. How, through inflation of course, the most insidious form of taxes. Our supply of printed federal reserve notes has increased many times since the current pres took office. Outsourcing jobs through GATT, NAFTA,and CAFTA haven't helped us at all. The more we send jobs somewhere else the stonger the demand for oil in those countries. If only you had put away all of the money you have supposedly saved by buying inferior goods from foreign countries in stores like wal mart you would have enough to gladly pay the increased fuel prices. Face it the middle east oil sheiks aren't stupid. They want to trade their oil for gold or the most valued foreign currency. The price of gold has risen 200 dollars an ounce in the past 30 or so months. It is taking more dollars to buy a barrel of oil because our currency like our food lacks any mineral substance. The US dollar is not the most favored currency in the world anymore. I do not think the democrats could do any better nor do they have the answers. We need to return to the Constitutional Republic that the founders gave us. We need to get out of all foreign entanglements. We need to have a currency that is backed 100% by gold or silver. We need to elect men and women that love America, know the Constitution, and will truly defend it against all enemies foreign and domestic.

Very well said CTait.

W. A. Derby - As info, I am not whining and did support Bush, still do to some extent, but you are dead wrong when you say Bush has nothing to do with this. He could push congress big time for alternative fuel sources, but then his Big Oil buddies would not make these hugh profits, I think all that Bush has supplied is lip service. BTW - I do drive 55-60 MPH and do not do jack rabbit starts. If diesel gets any higher, I may just sell the RV and the truck an just fly to a vacation destination as air fare is still quite resonable. Screw big oil, they can kiss my *****
