Some of us have to drive X number of miles a day whether we like it or not. Think about the farmer and ranchers in the usa. I know of guys that are burning 280 to 300 gallons of diesel a day. It takes 4 semi loads of wheat at 4. 60 to buy a semi of diesel.

The farmer/rancher has no way to pass on the increased cost of fuel. Times are tought in rural America right now.

I work for a transportation company where we have only owner operators, these guys have it tough they drive for a living!! they can't say no to a load or they won't get paid. Exaclty right lets stop complaining about what we pay yes it's expensive but it could be a lot worse. Just stop and think when you think it's bad someone always has it worse. Like someone said if your going to complain about how much you pay for gas for fuel then sell what you have. But most of us enjoy driving our trucks so lets enjoy and stop complaining. Oo.

No complaining here, I just don't like paying 3. 43 (last night 136 gallons of it) for diesel.

On the other hand my mothers side of the family runs a diary farm along with 2500 acres of land and between the price of milk and diesel it's getting real tough to make ends meet for them. I work in construction and yes we can pass some of the cost on to the end user but it still is a struggle when your dealing with contracts and all that fun stuff.

It is hard for me to understand, gas futures 1. 5435 gas tax oklahoma . 16

diesel futures 1. 7130 diesel tax okla . 14 gas retail here 2. 399 diesel 2. 769. If the futures are supposed to be such a great and wonderful thing why is the spread greater at the pump even tho the taxes are less?

You also need to add in the federal excise tax which is 18. 4 cents for gasoline, 24. 4 cents for diesel fuel, and 13. 1 cents for gasohol. In addition, commodity prices do not include storage and transportation costs, profits for the intermediaries and final retailer, etc.

Filled up (28 gallons) today for $73

Was talking to the president of our board yesterday, and I think he hit the nail on the head. And don't get me wrong, I am a strong Republican but I think they are driving the price down to get re-elected. After the election the price will probably go back up.

Our price here in northern Missouri has dropped dramatically for gasoline, but diesel has barely budged. It has moved, but not nearly as much as gas. I think it is sad and disgusting that they can raise the price of fuel if someone in Iran/Iraq sneezes, but they can't seem to drop it to save the local farmer a little money.

Time for a small revolution... I am have been getting sick and tired of big brother peeking over our shoulder and trying to live life for us.

You guys aren't going to believe this... .

regular gas is down to 2. 26 here and as for diesel $2. 59 and dropping... . I still think the stuff is $1. 00 higher than it should be but that is my opinion on the matter. .

Why has it come down?, i think we can all as to that list and would probably be in the ballpark or right on the money with each of our answers... .

The run up in price was caused by speculators in the futures market. There were so many people throwing money in there, that the supply shot up. Now it's coming crashing down on them. I hope everyone who put money into oil futures goes bankrupt!

Diesel is now $2. 45 in Ozark Mo at the Bullseye station across from Lamberts. gas is 2. 04. Shell truckstop across the road is $2. 46 for reg diesel. Not sure what their mid grade and premium diesel is.

Diesel dropped from $3. 09 to $2. 85 overnight... PA is still super high...

Last weekend I paid $2. 59 in WV and $2. 63 in TN.

Flying J nearest to me is priced at $2. 45/gal today for diesel. Some closer "neighborhood" stations are at $2. 61/gal. (Bought gas for the car yesterday at $2. 18/gal. ) The Flying J in Brunswick, GA that I stop at when driving to FL is at $2. 43/gal for diesel. In July, that same place sold #2 for $2. 83. Wow.

diesel is finally dropping here from being . 10-. 15 below preimum in the $2. 90 range, while gassing up my hotrod bimmer with 93* at $2. 639 i saw that diesel has dropped to $2. 699 at my favorite gashole

Well I'm down here in the Florida panhandle and diesel is running from $2. 63 to $2. 99 per. I did however, talk with Mr. Jim Smith, CEO of the Florida Petroleum Marketers Association a couple days ago. Very helpful guy-----answered all my questions. He explained that diesel is still running high because its demand is not as volatile as gas and therefore doesn't change as fast but he did say it would gradually come down. Demand is still high in the Gulf region because of recovery/rebuilding efforts but we're on the backside of it. He also explained how since the mid-90's the oil companies convinced Congress to allow oil to be traded like other commodities which petroleum marketers opposed for the very reasons we are all living with today. You know the spin----" Oh, it'll help stabilize prices" and "it'll be better for the consumer" kind of thing. Right-----now they trade oil on the futures market like frozen concentrated juice. And of course, the oil companies couldn't trade directly in the market so what do they do? They set up front companies, LLC's and such to do it for them! Now this one will knock your socks off---------prices are coming down because the FEAR of a bad hurricane season hasn't proved to be true. Also, the FEAR that supply issues wouldn't get resolved soon again haven't proven to be true. So it's the law of supply, demand and fear now?! Oh, yeah he was bent about that one too.

I heard on TV news a couple weeks ago that there is a diesel shortage now. It's selling for $2. 59 here.

I would like to know why there is a shortage, and why it is nearly acute in the rocky mountain and NW region. We are STILL paying $3. 25 for diesel. It finally dropped from the $3. 69 we had not long ago. You guys with gasoline for barely 2 bucks - that's sick!

You guys getting diesel for a mere $2. 60. . . I'm jealous! :(
