diesel theft ring

Just had a customer call me and tell me that his buddies CTD got stolen. The cops are telling him that there is a ring steeling diesel trucks to take to mexico to run generators and wells.

they got about a 500 HP sump motor from me... . effin b@stards. probably got thier kids on pogo sticks rigged up from my kore suspension.

i recommend a kill switch..... figure it out in PMs..... we don't need em advertised. and leaving the truck with the T-case in neutral could slow em down as well... . don't forget to engage the parking brake if you put the Tcase in neutral.

I've been reading a lot recently of people doing quirky things like rigging up relays that will pop a fuse to the starter circuit if truck is attempted to be started with a switch in a certain position. Even if they find switch after attempting to start, they still have to find fuse that popped.



Read another one where cigarette lighter must be depressed to allow start-up.



Not wanting to throw them info... there's hundreads of little tricks like this you can do with relays. For them to guess which one you've implemented would be nearly impossible.

I don't know about any dmax or powerjoke trucks being taken. I think the CTD would be the easiest to configure to thier application for running a pump or something. I will ask my cop buddy and see what he says and get back with ya'll.



edit: Just got word that there have been like 12 CTD trucks stolen in the last 2 months!

They are stealing whatever they can. My brother's Ford was stolen from Tucson but they caught the driver before he crossed the border but all his "goodies (GPS, leather jacket, etc) were long gone. All they had done was pop the lock on the passenger side and the steering column. California plates headed for the border in the middle of the night is why he was stopped. Cops told him it was a regular occurance.

There's at least one dumb one down in New Orleans... a friend of mine lost a 4x4, cc, F-350 dually at the motel parking in Metarie on 12/15 while we were there to work at Waterford 3.

Any idea how far north they're going to find trucks? I live in the SF bay area, so I wouldn't think I'm at high risk for this, but I spend a lot of time out of town and leave my truck parked on the street for up to a month a time pretty regularly. I'm a little nervous now.

It seems that when I read of truck thefts, it's, usually, from the border states. I've read of quite a few from the Phoenix area (where I live).



From a convenience standpoint, it seems that the "illegal aliens" like to not have to wander too far into the U. S. to take care of their business. The closer to the border, the better.



When I bought my '03, I purchased it from Tempe Dodge, which, is in the southern part of the Phoenix Valley (closer to Mexico). I noticed A LOT more security at the dealerships in the southern part of town. They had electric gates to get off the dealership property. Never saw anything like that at dealerships in the northern part of the valley.



I asked my sales person about all the security & he said they were having a lot of problems with vehicle thefts. One of their favorite tricks was to wait for a sold vehicle to be brought up to the staging area for customer pick-up. The keys were usually in the vehicle & the thieves would just get into the vehicle & take-off, sometimes with the sales staff in chase.



A Cadillac dealer had 10 or 12 Escalades stolen, one night. The illegals like them because they black out the rear windows & load them up with "fresh" illegals & smuggle them across the border. One of the things police & border patrol agents look for is SUV's that look like they are excessively loaded (squatting in the rear).



Much of the crime, in the Phoenix area, seems to be directly related to illegal aliens. For example, hardly a day goes by that you don't hear of an auto accident that turns into a "hit & run". It's, usually, illegals that don't want to be caught for fear of being deported. Happens all the time.



Yesterday, I heard a phone caller to a talk radio show that said he hauls earth moving equipment down to the border. They are digging a large trench, so that the Mexicans can't "tunnel" into the U. S. & then they are going to build a fence. When they park the equipment for the night, the next morning, the equipment is all shot-up & destroyed.



The other night, a group of armed, Mexican, para-military men came across our border at Lukeville, AZ. & raided the Border Patrol Station. Some of our National Guard troops (unarmed, of course) were chased away by these armed thugs. They think these thugs were "testing" our willingness & ability to defend our border. Our Nat'l. Guard has been given orders not to shoot at "illegals" or even point a weapon, at them. These folks are "sitting ducks", out there. And, WE are foolish for allowing this stuff to happen without a very, strong response.



I just heard this past week that the Mexican Government is now giving potential illegal aliens GPS units to more efficiently & safely enable their crossing into the U. S.



Personally, I have nothing against "legal aliens". Most of my family fit into that category. But, they ALL became U. S. citizens & contributed to the government & economy.



Many of the southern border, "illegal aliens" are here just for the money. Rather than circulate the money they earn in our country, they send it back home. That does very little to stimulate our economy.



Unfortunately, we can, probably, expect to see more of these kinds of problems until we finally secure our borders.

Happened in Dallas

Brother in laws 2004 QC Dually was stolen in Dallas. He had had just filled the tank. :{ Luckily he had full replacement with insurance. He now has 2006 QC Dually and he cannot believe the difference between the 305HP and the 325HP.

very well said! i sell quite a few vehicles,buses,equipment to hispanics. these folks come across the border in search of goods to take back to mexico. many have dealer lic and are very legit. hear lots of storys about stuff that gets stolen and taken back to mexico. sometimes even these guys get victmized themselves. hate to turn this into a political post,but something has to be done. theres a lot that goes on that the average person never hears about. i have several friends and one relative that is in law enforcment,they tell me about a lot of stuff that never hit's the news or the papers. in the end,it's us paying the premium for the stuff that illegals and other crooks are doing. beware,diesel pickups of any brand or age are a target, the older ones especially!

There was an article in today's paper about a couple of Texas towns that are fighting the wall. Seems the Mexicans have revitalized the towns by coming over and shopping there. They even have a Walmart now!



I find it hard to believe that a stolen '04 or '05 CTD is going to power a pump. There is a lot of electronics to work over to get it to run, correct me if I'm wrong.
