What are the differences between the 215HP injection pump and the 180 pump? Can the 180 pump be modified to pump as much or more fuel as the 215?

215's forever
You might, I have been told that I have the 180 pump by some and the 215 by others. The people at Cummins told me that I had a 230 HP engine in my truck according to the engine code... I don't know so I guess the best thing to do is pull the pump and crank it up some, whether it really needs it or not. Or do like Sly suggests and get a 215 if mine turns out not to be one.

Your truck does have a 215 pump, unless it is a CA truck with the emissions stuff on it. If that is the case MGM can tell you the difference between a 215 pump in a 49 state truck and a 215 pump in a CA truck (actually closer to the 180 pumps).

215 delivery valves and cam, but the WRONG plungers and barrels.
Piers said it is basically cheaper just to buy a 215 pump as it is too expensive to change them over.
How much do you need? I am at 360 rwhp with no turbo upgrade.
