I'm doing some research here and i'm wondering the differences between the two. all i know is the Ex side is 9cm auto,12cm stick.

Is the cold side the same? Are the ex housings interchangable? Are the turbine wheels the same? What for turbo does the third gen have, and do they spool up quicker than the 2nd gen trucks. Thanks for any help here.

The HY35 was put on the 2000-2002 automatic for quick spool up and clean burning. This HY35 uses the same outlet adapter as the HX35 so the down pipe and things like exhaust brakes interchange.

The HY on the newer trucks has a different configuration at the outlet and is not a direct bolt on for a second gen application.

The HY35 has little or no upgrade options. PDR did tweek a few a while back, but it was not a hot item. Stock HY35 9cm2 is good to around 27 lbs of boost, after that you are making hot air.

The HX35 has interchangable exhaust housings in both wastegate and non-wastegate versions.

HX35's like the PDR35 spool much faster than the stock HX35. The HX35-12W is good to around 30-32 lbs boost. People will give you higher boost numbers for both of these turbo's, but if you call a turbo shop like PDR these are the numbers they will give you.

I replaced my HY35 with a PDR35 to retain my Banks Exhaust Brake and hopefully lower EGT 150 degrees.

For mild HP and street racing the HY35 is quick. I have my in a box ready to ship if someone needs one.

I don't believe so. The HX is bolted together, while the HY has a sort of crimped clamp holding the sections together. I don't know that you'd want it with the mods you have. I can bark mine with just an Edge EZ.

the truck in my profile has a sp64/14

the reason is i got a few hx35's and wanted to put a 9cm housing on one of them for my 4BT
