new ISBE

The Diesel Page, AKA Duramax site

I was driving down the street today and saw an older Chevy with a fifth wheel hooked up to it. It was black and looked clean. I wondered if it was a diesel and got to think about how Dodge puts "Cummins Turbo Diesel" under the truck class, and Ford puts an engine label on all of their trucks; "Powerstroke" "triton", etc. Then I thought, "Why didn't Chevy do this before the Duramax?" Then I thought, "... well if I drove one of their old diesel, I wouldn't want anybody to know":D

Just a funny thought I had while driving today, and I thought you guys might get a chuckle from.

The older trucks pre 88 had 6. 2 diesel under the fender badge. On the 88 to 00 I think only 94-95 had 6. 5 Turbo Diesel on the hood in the hood lines.

saw a quad cab today. i think, as memory serves, duramax was in the body trim behind the front fender well. was i seeing things?

still not as bad as my 2500 with cummins etc. badge on the side of my truck.

When do you suppose that GM will be proud enough of the engine they installed in there HD trucks to put isizu on the door?!

Maybe when hell freezes over?

OK, I'll fess up..

I used to have a Chevy with the 6. 5TD. It came new

with decals on the hood, "6. 5 Diesel Turbo". I

added an identical decal to the tailgate.

Overall it was a good truck. Got decent mileage

and only once left me stranded, when an engine

oil cooler line got a pinhole size leak in it

after chafing on a piece of sound-insulation

under the firewall area. Fortunately for me I

noticed the leak before I lost significant oil!

It did the job towing a 6,500 lb boat/trailer

and took quite a hit in the rear from a Volvo,

only suffering trailer hitch damage. :D The

Volvo went away on a rollback.

Even though I miss having a truck that was paid

for ;),

I'm still glad to have the Cummins powered Ram!

Ford and GM Are trying to make the public think that they have a winner by naming the Engines with Fancy names, "PowerStroke and DuraMax". Why?

Maybe its Because the of the History of these Auto makers with their passed Poor performing and Short Life Diesels.

Its the Old Shell-n-pee game IMO.

With GM, First it was, This a real Diesel(5. 7), Then It was No now this is Real Diesel(6. 2), Then it was Wait, This is a Real Diesel(6. 5), Now we Have a Japanese Company Making a Real diesel For Us!, Trust Us! Realy!. What a Joke!

V-8 Small Rod Quiet Diesel?. Not for Me!.

IFS FWD Truck? Not for Me!.

On Star, Butt Warmers and Dingle berrys hanging from the Sun Visors with a set of Nightrider looking Cab Lights?. Not for Me!

Dodge is the only maker of diesel pickups that is actually proud of the diesel in the truck. The others hide behind foolish names dreamed up in their advertising departments. I've only seen one Ford whose owner was proud enuff of the engine that he had International cab badges on it. No chance of a Chevy or GMC with the engine manufacturer's name on the truck.

If I were a Chevy fan I'd be quite glad they hired in somebody with good diesel credentials (Isuzu). Chevy obviously couldn't get it right themselves. I doubt any of the Big3 (especially Dodge!!!) could build a decent diesel entirely in-house.

One of my racing budies just bought a loaded D-Max truck. It's beautiful. Hope it holds together for him. Mine won't be nearly as fancy, but I'm sure it'll keep me TimTaylor'in' for years.

Funny

Yeah, I think that it would be funny to see Ford put International or Navistar diesel on their truck and see what happens. You never know, they might sell more. I don't think it would sound bad. Especially if it said DT-466 or T530E ha ha dreaming again.

Don't all three do that with there truck names? Superduty,Silverado and the Ram

Thats the Name for the Truck, Not the Engine that provides the Power. You can get a Silverado with a gasser, And a Superduty with a Gasser, And a Ram with a Gasser.

Why doesnt Ford and Gm put the Real Manufacture's names of the Engines in their Light duty pickups on the truck?

Its Because its a Marketing Ploy.

The Only good thing GM Did was the Allison transmission, But the rest of the truck I dont like

40k for Lightduty Pickup?, I would rather a Midrange/MediumDuty Truck for that price.

Daimler Chrysler holds MB. Doesnt MB Make some of the worlds Finest Diesel Engines?

I think Daimler Chrysler owns Detriot Diesel Too.

So Dodge Could Put one of their Own Real Diesel's in the Ram. But with the Following of the Cummins Fans, They would lose Business. I like the Cummins, and their reputation.

The Name "Cummins" Speaks for itself, Period. It doesnt need a Boost with some Commic book name I. E. Duramax,Powerstroke.

I'm Just glad the Daimler Chrysler Doesnt do the Same as GM By having Mistubishi make the Diesel engine Option for the Ram.

What would that be Called?

A MaxiMax,

CaptanMax,

PullMax,

Powerpull,

SuperStroke,

DuraPower,

DuraStroke,

SilverStroke,

Superado,

DuraLube?

LOL!

IMO Gm is Joke,Look at the Aztec,Avalanche,Caddy Deville/Escalade-BUTT UGLY!!!. I'd rather buy a Hyundi, At least I wont waste as much money.

The Only Gm products I would Own are Pre 1988 Trucks and Pre 1974 Cars.

I didnt leave Gm, Gm Left Me.

And If Diamler Chrysler Leaves the Cummins out of the Ram, Then I am Done with Chrysler. And its Back with Buying Older Trucks again and fixing them up.

Doug.

Currently Looking for a Viper, For SCCA Racing? Or upsetting the Local CHP?

So it's OK to give a truck a sales name but not an engine.

I guess the Max Wedge, Hemi and Magnum engines are poor excuses for gas motors.

As far as the GM vehicles you listed that are a joke, if they didn't sell they would not make them. GM is the largest auto company so they have more models, some are ugly(like the ones you mentioned ) but someone thinks there cool.

What does "Max Wedge" or Hemi mean?

It Pertains to the Combustion chamber, Its a Discription of the Combustion Chambers used in the those engines.

Magnum engines are a Farse just like the Dura Dude,Powerstroke.

I dont have a Magnum,

I have a Hemi ISB Cummins Diesel!. LOL.

There is already talk on the Net about dropping the sagging Aztec. And I am Sure the Avalanche will follow. The Caddy's are Snooty cars, they always hang around for a while Until the Snoots get tired of them. Best Looking GM big Car was the 59 and 61 Caddys.

IMO, the New Caddy Deville looks like the SUX6000 on the Movie RoboCop. LOL! Rent the Movie, And tell me its not true.
