Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) difficulty of changing input shaft?

I soon will be going with a dual-disk and will have to upgrade to the 1 3/8 input shaft. How involved is this swap? Can an average guy do this or is it something a good, reputable shop should do? I do my own work on the truck if it isnt a huge job but i dont about this. I would appriciate it if anyone could give a some info on what it takes to do this
