Want to know if there is a diffrent type of filter besides K&N that will work in stock air box. Was told that the K&N was the reason for the map/boost sensor going bad, the filter oil gets sucked in and gums the sensors up. Going to get a stock filter for now but don't like the stockers. If you guys know of any could you let me know and if possible give my the manufacture's name and part number.

Thanks

I use a RE-0880 K&N but I have heard of Amsoil for 1 and I hope others will follow and give me a hand in helping you out cause I'm new at this and these guys N Gals have been a big help already

Western Diesel makes a filter that fits in the stock air box. It is a foam element instead of the pleated gauze like the k&n. I had very good luck with it with just the EZ. When i went to the DD3's, i gained 3 psi of boost by going away from the stock box/WD air filter and putting on a K&N re 0880!! You should be fine with the k&n, just don't over oil it.

If you are staying with paper and want a good one, NAPA has a NAPA Gold stock replacement that has deeper pleats for more surface area and good filtration. Don't have the PN with me but my local jobber had it in stock.

AFE

I just got an AFE filter a week ago. AFE is supposedly a spin off of K and N. Two guys formed it after they left K&N. Rumor or not, the filter is very good. It is much beefier, seals better, and has a very strong metallic grate of sorts on top to prevent it from the deforming that the K&N's do when you BOMB your truck. Helps your spool up time and I'd recommend it.

Got it from DIS in KY $ 61. 96, cleaning kit about 6 dollars, ask for Gary Adams at 1877727-8724 great customer service.
