disc brake conversion article

way back in the early 2000's (i think) there was an article in the tdr magazine about doing a rear drum brake to disc brake conversion. the kit was supplied by egr brakes. is there an index somewhere that would tell me what issue the article was in? i have every issue from issue #9 on so i dont need a reprint of the article. i just need to know what issue that article was in. thanks!

I did the EGR rear disk on my 98. To do it again I would find a 01-02 rear axle with disks!

If you have a 2000 up I would do the 3rd gen front brake upgrade.

Not worth it for marginally better brakes. I'd use the present crop of Powerstop,EBC or eveen EGR's upgraded calipers,rotors and pads. Keep your excellent parking brake.

I've been looking off and on.

There is not summary I could find.

From the electronic ones the first reference I can find is Issue 41 page 163.

Will keep looking.

The instructions on EGR site are from 2007, that issue 41 is from 2003, so there are not too many magazine issues to check when you consider 4 a year, I used the search term EGR.

Issue 58 pg 157 they released the dually disc conversion, still not an article.

Found something interesting every August issue has whats called the TDResource it has a list of articles, I checked 40 to 61 and did not find that article, but if you pull Q3 magazines you will find that TDResource that can be used to find this on the older ones.

Edit, that TDResource changes to Q4 in 2010 and it changes format a bit, made it a little farther.

If I missed it in 40-61 it must have been called something else.

I will say EGR Brakes is a long time advertiser with the TDR.

thanks for all the info!! i appreciate all the time you have put in looking for it!! i was hoping that there might be a list on a computer somewhere that would have a list of all the articles and it might be easy to look it up. i guess i can just start going through all my old issues to see if i can find it..

No problem, those Aug/Sept issues all seem to have that summary of articles in them for the past 4 issues, so that helps some.

At some point I will download the 40-108, then they should become searchable on my side after they index, that will not be soon.

But agree there is a ton of good stuff in these old issues.

The above is less then an hour. And I cut some grass inbetween, my stash of old magazines is in the garage.

They have some cool covers over the years.

i found the article. issue 77 page 97 and 98. i just wanted to see the pictures of the emergency brake cable and how it is mounted. the pictures in the tdr are much better than the pictures in the instructions. thanks for looking!

That was a good article. He did a lot of work to that rig in that article.

Thanks for sharing. Some good little tips about the bracket adjustment and some of the smaller fit and finish.
