Anyone a CPA???

I can't believe it.

First, I see the pathetic display of people getting CRUSHED as they all try to crowd into Wal-Mart. NO doubt they will sue, because this has to be Wal-mart's fault somehow

Point: We are so sickeningly materialistic that we will waste our time to save a dollar or two, to buy things we don't need and/or couldn't otherwise afford, and are willing to hurt others that stand in the way of our pathetic material gluttony.

Then I see this story on the news last night. Some poor woman waiting ALL NIGHT outside a wal-mart to get her son an X-BOX 360, only to have someone steal it from her after she checked out. Her news interview:" I spend a WHOLE WEEK'S PAYCHECK an waited all night in the freezing cold (Casper, WY) to get my son the XBOX he needed. ":{

1) Lady, YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE TOY IF IT COSTS A WHOLE WEEK'S CHECK!

2) BE A PARENT AND TELL YOUR SON HE WILL HAVE TO GO WITHOUT. He doesn't "need" an XBOX anymore than I "need" to have filter mignon for every meal

3) More proof that the poor are poor because they keep making decisions that keep them poor.

Then to top it all off, I happen to go into a Kohl's yesterday, and the line to check out was wrapped around the perimeter aisle of the while store! There must have been 300 people in line, and waiting about 2-3 hours to check out.

Point: my employer pays me more than $5 an hour, so if I'm going to wait that long, it better for DANG sure be to save a lot more than a couple bucks on some clothes.

I'm embarassed that yesterday's images will be beamed to the rest of the world as representative of the fat, lazy, selfish, gluttonous American. Too bad some people are obsessed with proving the worst about us to be true.

Frustrated

I would rather pay double for an item then to have to get up at 5am to go save 25% and shop on black Friday. NOT my idea of a good time #@$%!

Many things are more important than price. The behavior I saw televised yesterday reminded me of a pack of animals fighting for a morsel of food. :(

Hohn, I hear you loud and clear! I hate the time leading up to Christmas!

I know the meaning of Christmas but the materialistic world we live in has screwed it all up. Crowded stores and commercials

Is it me or did they start playing "Christmas" commercials early this year?

I will be glad when it's Christmas day, my boys are opening their presents, and I can sit back and relax with my wife.

Rusty

You are right, but at least food would be worth fighting over.

It gets earlier every year. The marketing people are realizing that they can pimp everyone by repetition which earns them more bonus $. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of capitalism but the marketing relationship is out of balance.

My #1 motto:

Dont buy I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER you cant afford. (With the possible acception of firearms)

There was a story in the local paper here. A family slept at wallmart to get their "stuff" first.

They got there 1am!!!!

How assinine.

I saw all the morons waiting in line to get XBOX 360. Even in my small town... they waited in line all night for the 10 that our Wal-Mart (aka Rat-Mart) had. Did anyone else see that picture of Bill Gates standing at the register in some "Best-Buy" store selling XBOX games? Ya... like he could really give a hoot. If some of these dumb geek losers would work as hard at getting a job or an education, as they do at saving all their McDonalds paychecks to pay for a new XBOX 360, maybe the U. S. would be in somewhat better shape.

Oh well... I guess something has to keep the dummies down. Might as well be an XBOX game. Leaves more job opportunities for me. Enough soapbox for me. I need to get back to my newest "Grand Theft Auto - L. A. " game. Teaches me how to really become a man. Are they gonna come out with a "Looter - New Orleans" game soon???

Ya know... its very very sad to say... but I can sometimes see the truth in the claims that Al Quada makes against Americans (and I do HATE terrorists). But, there really are some gluttonous, overweight, selfish slobs who do nothing but consume, digest and destroy the world which, was handed to them in a welfare check by working taxpayers.

PS... I love the article I read the other day where US Customs & Immigration arrested 100 Mexican construction workers building a Super-WalMart in Allentown PA... former HQ for Mack Trucks. Way to go Customs! Wal-Mart quoted "We had no idea our subcontractor would do such a thing... they are supposed to know the law". Gee Wal-mart... how did you think they won your contract building commercial buildings for $50/sq foot? Meanwhile go to any Walmart and look at the Sams Choice pop machines. You'll see old Sam Walton himself standing there wearing a walmart baseball hat with the words in the background... . MADE IN THE USA! Makes you feel so good when you go in to get that XBOX doesn't it?

What is "filter mignon" anyway? :-laf Is that some sort of high performance lubricant/air cleansing system? Or is it some liver dish I've never had? :D

This just goes to show you how forgetful and ignorant that we Americans really are. They are in the process of building a new Superwalmart in Bismarck N. D. right now. They had to shut down the project because a couple illegal aliens had taken a few juvenile girls to bed, and as it turned out, they were working on the construction of the new Walmart. Immigration took about 14 of them away. About 15 years ago, when they built the last Walmart in Bismarck, they had to halt construction then, for the very same reason. And at almost every new Walmart construction site that I hear of in the US, you here the same thing. Yet everyone continues to support them, while complaining about their own wages. I know that Walmart denies this everytime ,with the excuse that it is a subcontractor. But if they were to get some stiff enough fines , then maybe they would pay more attention to what is happening at their own sites. Suppose?

I'm curious - is the problem with WalMart and noone else, or is it that we just hear about WalMart because other construction sites (hiring plenty of illegals themselves) just aren't as large or controversial?

As to the asinine shoppers, I agree they're not behaving well, but you don't see WalMart and Best Buy and the other retailers discouraging it - they set Black Friday up specifically to make it happen.

No, it is not just Walmart, there have been illegal alien roofers here in N. D. as well. However, After hearing about Walmart allowing this to happen at each construction site, a person thinks that they approve and maybe encourage this behavior. I will admit that those workers need to make a living the same as anyone else. But there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. Ignorence is no excuse,, at least that is the way it was taught to me. JMO

I am with loncray on this one.

This anti-WalMart is really getting under my skin. If you don't like WalMart then don't buy from them and don't work for them. Last time I checked this is a free country and if WalMart was doing anything illegal they will be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I have always tried to watch my purchases and "Buy USA" when possible. Recently I was at a locally owned store looking at jeans with my wife.

The jeans she was interested in were a name brand, were made in Mexico, and cost around $40. The jeans I was looking at were Wranglers, made in Mexico of US material, and cost around $40.

We decided to look elsewhere. We went to WalMart and she found Wranglers for $17 made in Mexico with US material.

I did not find what I was looking for but was at Dick's Sporting Goods(a chain like WalMart) later that week and found the Wranglers I wanted on sale for $25 with a $10 rebate. Total cost $15. 00

While we were at Dick's they had Women's ski jackets (Spyder) for $250. 00. Just for the heck of it I looked at the tag and it was Made In China! I thought WalMat was the only one who made stuff in China? I thought they were the bad guys that exploited Chinese labor to make their "huge" profits?

What do you think the profit margin is on a ski jacket made in China that they are charging $250. 00 for? I guarantee you if WalMart was selling the same jacket it would be for a lot less than $250. 00.

I have a hard time believing the Xbox incident happened in Casper, WY. We just don't act that way in these parts. :( No saying that you miss spoke, just have a hard time believing it.

Gee, just think what I'm missing w/o a tv. :-laf
