I like the Night Edition very much, and strongly considered the Limited for First Husband. But I just cannot get over $4100 USD for the Limited Level 1 Equipment group that has a bunch of techie annoyances that I really don't want. The sound system would be nice, but everything else not so much. I have all those beeps and notifications in my Bimmer and they annoy. And, wait for it...the collision warning system on my Bimmer is almost as slow as getting a letter the following Monday by USPS--never ever kept up with my own Dale Gribble she-shahhh reflexes. So, I don't care to have all that electronic warning stuff. On the other hand, the way I see it, the Limted Longhorn is just as sexy--same sultry leather, different color, but bundled differently. The base price is almost $5,000 less to start, and you can add the Longhorn 1 Equipment group to get the sound system, power running boards, 12 in screen and some other goodies. It is otherwise the same truck. Sadly, no way to get a black grill and black wheels on the Longhorn, but I figured out I can order it with 20" chrome rims that are unique to hte Longhorn, and very nice. Body color bumper. First Husband is spoiled rotten. If it were up to him, he would buy a Tradesman with a hose-down interior.

Hi STS!

Hauling anything big, heavy, and cool is what is the attraction to Ram Cummins Trucks. I've hauled a long heavy 5er RV, most weight though was about 8Klbs on the pin, so 14Klbs on the rear axle, 7Klbs on the fronts and likely 32Klb trailer mounted 450KW genset on a 32ft dual tandem flatbed that had a 1000 gallon double walled fuel tank with 400 gallons of diesel mounted on the gooseneck.

These trucks sound the best when they are "Loaded".;)

You need a nice powerful truck to haul those special loads... maxtow 3500 with HO and Aisin. I know I'm posting a second time, but I'm excited for you getting a BA truck.

Do you have a decision date... I think there is still a thread... Should I buy a 2020 or should I wait?":D

Cheers, Ron

Very cute with the bail of hay. I saw a 43 flatbed behind a huge Peterbilt a while back, all brand new. Trailer was empty, except for a little toy truck that was strapped down on the middle of the trailer bed. Very whimsical. Also, very nice bike behind the 2 tone dually. The dually is just too big of a horse to handle in the big city, but I love it.

Can someone detail for me how Ram has beefed up the frame and suspension on the 3500, versus the 2500? I drove both a week ago, and the 3500 seemed tighter to me.

The frame and front suspension are the same, the big difference is the rear suspension. The 2500 uses coil springs and the 3500 uses leaf springs. The 2500 has the potential to be a better ride with the coil spring, but the auto-level 3500 is a pretty great ride empty and a very stable ride loaded.

Were either of the trucks you drove equipped with auto-level?

So get him what he needs. There IS such a thing as "too nice of a truck". Those get left in the parking lot while the "rubber floor" truck gets used to do the dirty job and hosed out later. The Tradesman does have a nice sound system in it. Add the optional Subwoofer if you like.

I have been asked several times to make use of a beater of a pickup I had because the scaredy-cats didn't want to take their nice "toy" truck off-road. They might as well own a sedan. Yeah, that will get hosed out! And the sand bar at the end of the driveway was impressive.

An this one just took the cake. Left their Nissan pickup in the parking lot because they didn't want to put in this little amount of dirt. Didn't even need 4X4!

As I have a Giant Newfoundland leather seats and rubber floors would be easier to clean up than carpet/cloth. The dog hair sticks to it very well.

To be clear the RAM has hauled vehicles like the beater pickup...

You got to be good friends to be talked into hauling a POS like this! Like wind up in the same prison cell friends when it's from the next state over...

Never know when you need all of the 8' long bed.

There is just something SEXY about BIG hips. :D

I said that at first but they can all be turned OFF, and stay OFF if you want. (unlike many other brands that lurk in the background).. I will say that the adaptive cruise is best in class as well as the blind spot / cross traffic monitor. Would do it again in a heartbeat.. And I like the Limited exclusive satin grille...

I am still working on this. Thought I would get my man the Longhorn interior, but this evening, when we were warshing his 2011 Cummins, he remarked that some of "the guys" on TDR complained about the Longhorn interior, said it did not wear well, blah blah blah. Does anyone out there have experience with the Longhorn interior? My other choice is the Limited in Indigo/Frost, but I am rebelling against the $4100 Limited Level 1 Equipment group, as I think the Longhorn Level 1 Equipment group is better value. What do you guys think about this? Be straight, as truck is ordered, and I may need to change.

I think it is the Laramie leather seats that do not stand up that well. Never heard a complaint on the Longhorn seats. My 2015 Laramie seat showed that someone had sat in it for 5.5 years when I sold it with around 80K on the clock this spring.

I've had 3 Laramie trucks all had a minimum of 85000 miles and one had 190000 miles and none showed excess wear, just wrinkles from sitting in them. I suspect that all of the trim levels may get excess wear depending on the owner /user sliding in and out. I always used running boards and stepped in/out not sliding on the edge of the seat.

When I test drove Longhorns I felt like I would damage the leather on a test drive. I’ve never had that feeling in 41K on my Laramie.

If I were to buy a new truck today it would be a Laramie.

The Longhorn has more real leather in it. I liked the seats more than all the others for comfort. Leather say on the sides of the seat that are not normal wear areas that otherwise use vinyl. It’s the trim level I would get for myself in anything but black. All seats wear so seat covers are a good idea for cloth work trucks. Just looking at used pickups the driver side seat usually has foam showing here. Even leather is cracked through.

The real heartburn you should have is Vs. rubber floor mats trim level. We have no idea how dirty the job sites get aside of the comment about his preference.

Otherwise I wouldn’t second guess it.

Loved the interior of my 11 LongHorn. Looked new at 65k at trade. I can tell you my 15 looks new at 85k and the leather is even more supple.

Also the instrument cluster is the best looking of the bunch IMHO.
