Any reason why diesel costs more than gas?

I'm having some issues with my VP44. Have the 216 code showing up and an occasional dead pedal while operating.

Can I take the truck into a diesel shop (Cummins approved) if a VP swap out is needed or do I have to use a Dodge dealer? Rig has 70k miles so warrenty is good.

I would really feel better about a diesel mech working on this truck.

I'm pretty sure that you will have to take it to the dealer for warranty work. Where are you located? Maybe one of us can suggest a good dealer in your area who has a diesel tech in house.

Your warranty is through Dodge, not Cummins. Dodge can authorize a Cummins shop to perform work if the local Dodge dealer doesn't have a qualified tech, but that's the exception, not the rule. Your first point of contact to have the pump replaced under warranty will be a Dodge dealer.

Take it to a good Dodge Dealer. They should replace the VP44 under warranty. Also have them check out the lift pump. If they warranty the VP44 (and I do not see why they would not), you should consider upgrading the fuel supply system with a FASS or a FASS-2 (or something else comparable).
