Yep.. OJ Simpson innocent. Some really good legal Decision are made by Judges and Juries. Any Good Lawyer or Judge will tell you its in Your best interest NOT to allow another to Make decision for YA...But if your stupid enough to ignore the warnings, Go for it, Let's see how things turn out for Ya....

I am pretty sure Ford/Firestone lost their big money in civil court. Not criminal .... not criminal violation

I've always been under the impression that one should leave the meaning of the law to judges and legal decisions already rendered.

to the best of my knowledge there are some legal requirements placed on fuel systems by DOT, FHTSA etc but the Feds surely don't mandate the type of filtration system the OEM uses.. just that it meets certain safety standards.

Such as not using a material that completely blocks the flow of fuel when saturated with water. It is no coincidence that Zinga specifically states DO NOT use in ICE.(internal combustion engines)

I have no knowledge of Cummins internal engineering standards, but suffice to say the make their own decisions on what to use and manufacture their own filtration systems... same applies to FACA. I suspect their filtration system is better than good enough.

just look at the current generation fuel system for what it is.

an in tank pump with a pre filter.

a frame rail mounted combination fuel filter water separator with water in fuel sensor

an engine mounted secondary fuel filter with a nominal 3 micron rating

and what are termed "Edge" filters that are in all 6 injectors

The Edge filters are in the Cross Tubes Not the Injectors.... Much debate over the effectiveness, IMO they do more to cause a swirl effect to stop the forces as the fuel enters the Injector, Also on the 6.7 Rail their is 7 Fuel restrictors, 1 at each inlet fitting.

These restrictors have much to do with the dead Pedal at LOW RPMs, We have sold 3345 Modded 6.7 Rails and each owner will tell you most of the dead Pedal is gone and the engine tone at idle has changed, Same go's for the edge filters remove them and again the tone changes.. We manufacture our own Cross Tubes for Both the 6.7 and 5.9, We Jump in the tube business after all the China Junk tubes being placed even in Bosch Box's. I was done with the imposers, You use our Tubes or reuse The OEM tubes. Warranty Void Form us on the Injectors if Junk tubes are used... I stated this in advance of sale ,I would rather lose the sale then deal with the problems some Tubes create.

my bad. the edge filters are in the fuel connectors as TC diesel said..

there for a reason. as cummins states. Quote:
The fuel connector contains an edge filter that breaks up small contaminants that enter the fuel system. The edge filter uses pulsating high-pressure to break up any particles so they are small enough to pass through the injector.

Note : The edge filters are not a substitute for cleaning and covering all fuel connections during repair. The edge filters are not a substitute for maintaining the recommended engine mounted fuel filter. quote

you know, the human eye can't see stuff much smaller than 40 microns.. judging by the debris in those photos I'd say something else happened
