I'm just going on previous experience. I have had nothing but bad luck with Dodge dealers in California. Now don't get me wrong, some(emphasis on that word) people have gotten great deals on new trucks in California. I just haven't. I'll give an example: back in '06, I tried buying a 3500 SRW QCLB 4x4 from Folsom Lake Dodge in Folsom, Ca. Sticker price on the truck was $43,280. 00. My OTD price on the truck(keep in mind the truck is bone stock, no accessories or anything on it aside from the way it came from the assembly plant) would have been no less than $56,999. 00. There is NO WAY I'd pay that much for a truck that stickered at $13,719. 00 less. That same year a friend of mine referred me to Dave Smith in Idaho and I told them my experience and since then they have treated me the way I expect to be treated at a dealership. That is why I always refer people to there.
Also, as far as only neighboring states being able to by Ca vehicles, that is not true. Thanks to the DPF/EGR and all that stuff, you can buy any brand new diesel vehicle in any state and register it in California right away. You'll just have to pay an "out-of-state vehicle" tax on the registration the first year you register it in California unless it has at least 7,500 miles on it.
