Love it! Exactly what I'd expect from Cummins. Towed with it for the first time yesterday. Couldnt even tell I had a 25ft boat behind me.

So far, so good. The fuel economy is 13-15 city, 17+ highway, so about what I expected for a big truck. I do get a terrible smell in the cab while at a light- hopefully that can be corrected soon.

This is my 2nd Dodge, but only my first CTD. It pulls my 21' boat/trailer much better than my 98 Ram, especially comming up out of the ramp.

here's my two cents (long)

Hi, I'm a new CTD owner and here's my take so far:

Hits:

Seats - way more comfortable for long drives than any other truck I've had

Power - of course!

Handling - for 7k lbs, this thing handles better than my last 1/2 ton

Wipers - are really good

Color - my previous brand didn't have a red like this.

:D

Stereo - the stock plain jane CD is fine with me, the extra jing for the Infinity speakers will be invested later.

Contorl knob detents - radio volume, heater control, wiper delay - the detents are great.

Delivery Time: ordered May 8, at dealer on June 24 after spending over 2 weeks in Kansas. Dealer kicked ass to get the topper, running boards and bedliner installed in time for the 4th of July.

Misses:

Body and window lines - one, the body lines allow any junk in the tires to be thrown into the bodywork behind the tires (especially the fronts), two, bugs will actually leave their guts on the front passenger and driver's side windows. This is the first time I have experienced this. Also, without the grille air deflector, bugs accumulate under the wiper blades like crazy.

Rear floor mats - I paid boucoup bucks and have no rear mats?wtf!

Glove box - could be bigger for the size of the cab

Dash - in the right sunlight, the dash reflects off the windshield high enough to see all of the defroster openings.

Rear Seat - no pullout armrest to separate the kids

Tires - the Michelin LTX's grab the choicest gravel pieces before letting them go to rattle around the undercarriage.

Dealer - ordered the security system, got lost in the quote transactions and now have some aftermarket thing instead of the "key" and one fob for the doors and alarm.

Deals - locally here DC had a big push on CTDs at the end of June, I potentially lost about a grand in purchase price and my dealer would not budge.

Overall, I really like the truck but I didn't get it to see a little black smoke when I stab the throttle. I expect reasonable mileage without featherfooting the gas, especially towing. I currently get 12. 5-15 towing a 4000lb boat and 14. 4-17. 3 (all calculated) on the highway. I've driven 4 of these 04. 5's and mine is on the low side of "overhead" mileage, by far the loudest engine of all the ones I drove, but none of the other infancy issues. With 3 buds that have 555's, I have to wait until winter and full 4-place trailers for bragging rights with a 600, maybe.

The mileage is picking up with every fill and with a little luck, it will meet the numbers to cover the diesel and auto charges in 4 years.

I love mine took a 3,000 trip towing 21k gross, no problem at all. This is my 5th CTD and I think it is the best of them all. I did have the vibration problem but found I had a bad front drive line. Smooth as silk now at any speed. I have 7,300 miles on it and my best mileage was 20. 6 and my lowest mileage was while towing against a very, very stiff head wind I got 8. 5.

I traded a Ford 2003, 6. 0PSD 2500 2WD in on a new Dodge 4. 5 600HO Quad 3500 Dully 2WD. I now have 7600 miles with 4000 towing and it is just so much better than my Ford in many ways. I am extremely happy to be back to Cummins.

Super quiter than my 99... plenty of scat... . great ride compared to 99..... super sound (infinity). Laramie H pkg leaves little to be desired..... got 4800 miles so far and mpg is not very good. Hopefully will get better or will have to put the same chip as my 99 which boosted the 99 to over 20 on the hwy. Wind noise around windows sometimes loud but not too bad. Beautiful truck, lovely ride, mucho macho... . Full fiberglass boards help to keep junk from being thrown up onto the lower panels.

Oh yeah!

My CTD is now 36 hours old and about 215 miles. It was well worth the wait. It is awsome! The power the sound. My mpg kinda sucks right now but have been doing a lot of show and tell around town to friends. I have totally become obsessed with BOMB'in my truck my hubby loves it and my girlfriends think I've lost my mind. I'll tell you this truck has b@lls!!!

:) Love this truck, I have owned three of the CTD so far. I've had a 93, 96, and now a great looking white 3500 SRW 4x4 quad cab. I did keep the 96 in the family, my nefew now owns her. I have no real complaints. They get better each time out.
