How many Diesel trucks have you owned?

Power Poll

Gee, I wonder of there is a colour of dye that makes red into something like clear? Or even close? Of course, we up here in the frozen north don't have to worry about colours of fuel. Only if it is jelling or not.

Warren, I've heard that if you dump used motor oil in your tank that the fuel turns black.

I'm sure the day isn't too far off when the dye will be designed so a person with special glasses can just look at the exhaust of a passing truck and tell what color the fuel is.

The gas stations don't care which hose you use, enforcement isn't their job.

They dont have a "red" nozzle around here, not many farms.

Get a 550 tank in your yard and fill it with heating oil. Same thing.

BTW, I know several truck drivers that pull out of the Hess terminal in Linden, Hess is still making high sulphur diesel last I spoke to them. I suppose it's only the older plants that are still doing this.

I THINK this is what I've been getting delivered. It DOES smoke more than when I fill up at the fuel station.

Hmmm. I've been filling up at Hess in Garwood & Union. I wonder if that's contributing to my smoking issues. Then again, I filled up in PA two weeks ago and it was hella smokey. Probably because of the weather, but...

Just thinking aloud...

I am not going to say I do now, but I have run red, and not only does it smell better than the greenie weenie fuel, I think it runs better... BTW... I thought we were out for more smoke anyway... . also, #1 I believe is Kerosene, or winterized fuel, and #2 is Diesel... . Last time I got some of the good red stuff here, it was $. 74/gallon... . VERY TEMPTING!!! Oh well, that's my $. 02 worth

:( A fellow that I work with has a Mercrdes car and was filling it from a tank he had for his tractor. His nosey neighbor turned him in and they photo'd him fueling. Fined him $10,000. 00 here in Oregon. Isn't worth the chance of people not minding ther own damn business. Tim

My neighbors are too naive to do a thing like that... . plus, with as wild a street as I make it, I really dont think they will be saying much... . They know payback would be a b****!!!!

Charlan, I agree with the better sound, and running better. Mine was much quieter and I'm sure the MPG's went up too.

All my neighbors are a bunch of admin types, I doubt they know the difference.

I have good stuff on pretty much all my neighbors too, if needed. :D

Only to fill the filter canister

No, I would not run red diesel in Cummings, I do run Red in my Kubota Tractor. It is 50-60 cents a gallon cheaper than road diesel. The local truck stop sell both from two adjcent pumps. I use about a pint in Dodge fuel fliter to top it when I change the fuelfilter. And truck started on the first crank.

Maybe not in the CUMMINGS diesel, but my CUMMINS burns it very well. Just had to throw that in!!! lol, Not necessarily efficiently, but it seems to love it!!! That's my $. 02 worth again,

I asked the driver that delivered my last load of fuel (8000 gal. red 500 gal. clear)what the diference was. He said no differance, they add the dye at the terminal when they load the truck. I know they charge us extra for the dye.

There is actually a difference... . The red stuff has a higher sulfur content as opposed to its green counterpart. Also, the reason they dye it red is so they know if you are using it for taxable purposes when it should not be... . My $. 02 worth again...

Most places there is no difference - just the color. Same stuff for your home furnace. It should all run fine in your truck.

It's just a tax gimmick.

I wonder how much polution burning the red dye makes?;)

OK Bill,

It's time to get in the truck and check fences or run back to Washington and check on the farm. ;)

Once again it's obvious you've got way to much time on your hands. ;)
