Just dropped off my truck at the local Dodge Dealer. Nice enough folks but are they ever clueless. I pull it into the service bay at their request, the service writers is standing right there, no rememeber Diesel trucks sound nothing like gas trucks. I get out, tell the service writer again why I am bringing it in and very cordially mention how a friend of mine (mgoncalves) had the same steering problems and they fixed his problem by..... and so on. Then I tell him my concern of how when I checked my lift pump pressure it was low and I wanted to "nip this one in the bud" before it ate my VP44. Now, with 2 mechanics standing right there (this place was dead today) the service writer you would sure hope someone else knew what I was talking about. The Service Manager comes in and the Service Writer asks him what the pressure should be on the lift pump for the Cummins. Service Manager says "only the V10's have a lift pump" the diesels dont and the VP44 is for the hemis. Now this should have been my sign to back the truck out and drive elsewhere... dont ask me why I stayed. So the service writer hops up to my truck to grab mileage and says "hey, this isnt a V10, its a Diesel. " :{ Now I am crying with frustration! Besides having a record at the dealership on my truck wouldnt you think he should be able to recognize the distinct sound of a diesel and the Dodge V10 in close proximaty? As I leave the dealership with my wife in her Explorer I am shaking my head in amusement and asking myself... . Why the heck did I just leave my baby there? :confused: I am really awaiting the return call saying your Dodge V10 is all fixed now! Oh well, I think someone there probably must have some clue what they are doing:rolleyes: I needed a laugh to lighten me up!:rolleyes:

They are funny characters! I dont know why I keep laughing about this as I wait for the call that its done. Maybe this snow and the fact I am getting cabin fever is why I havent freaked that they may do something bad to my $$$$ pickup.
 
Check the bill to make sure they don't charge you for spark-plugs. :rolleyes:



HMMMMM a lift Pump & a VP on a HEMI?,... ... ... . must be one of those Hemi-Diesels I've been hearing about. :D

Hemi Diesel??? Hmmm... . Now that would be pretty cool :D I just got back from picking it up. Heres the verdict. I do have a lift pump and a VP44!! My LP pressure checked out fine @ 15psi Idle on their guage and 10 @ WOT. Was correct on steering. Track bar was loose so they replaced it. I almost hauled it right back in there because the steering whell sits cockeyed to the left by about 1/4 turn :mad: After getting a new track bar would an alignment be needed? It drives like a totally different truck and steers straight, they just got the wheel all crooked.

I don't know whether to be frightend or excited. One would think that a set of 275s at WOT would be a little different than stock. Suprised they did not say "Something was wrong with your injectors so we replaced them for you under warranty. "

I am wondering if I should put them on my list of semi blind dealers for warranty service.

Sticks, definetely do. They would really have to want to go after the injectors to find them not being stock. Maybe with something alot bigger like DD3's or larger they might think something is up by the extra smoke but 275's are pretty hard to gauge by that. From alot of what I have read some RV275's can be purchased with the same part # as stock ones. I forgot to check and see if mine where before installing them :( But none the less, they would literally have to pull them out and flow rate them to see if they are stock size or not if the part #'s match. That would be one cool Dodge Dealer if they have that ability to do that.

I would almost agree with you, but being a diesel tech is a specialized field, and a good mechanic should be able to pick up on the difference between stock, and modified. When I am working on motorcycles, I can see, hear, smell, and feel when the motor has been tweaked, or needs tweaking, even just a little.



If the mechanic is good, noticed the difference, was checking on a fuel system issue, and said nada, then they are definately on my list.



IMHO... I am not a diesel tech.

I am no diesel tech but my guess is RV275's would be really hard to detect unless someone drove my truck really hard (i'd kill em if they did :D ) and then drove an identical stock truck immediately afterwards. Each truck is different though and could vary. Mine has more oomph once past 1300 rpm but by the seat dyno it might be difficult for someone to notice who doesnt drive my pickup every day. Bigger injectors than these and you are absolutely right, a trained mechanic would notice. Maybe a Diesel Mechanic could rhyme in here.

Course when it comes right down to it, they arent stock and if they did find them to be an issue with something "I am my own warranty station. "

Gall dang these CTD's are addicting!

That is the point I am trying to make. They did not find them, and I am just that much closer to forking out the $$$ for some... darn you:D. I can read all day about everyone else and their BOMBs, but because I got to see and feel yours at the wrench day, my evil little voice knows that they do exist and is just adding that much more pressure. :rolleyes:



Can you tell I am working on building a psycho defense for my actions when the 'ol lady finds out.



Back to the steering, I would try to go back when you have some time and ask them to fix it.

Alright!!!! I am influencing!! This is cool, I'll tell you what. I'll convince your wife you need some injectors for "mileage gains purposes" since Diesel is ridiculous in price right now and you convince my wife I need a BIG Fueling box after the guages. :D

I received the green light for trans work today from "my power the be"... now I just have to figure out how to convince her that injectors are part of a trans upgrade... . :D :D

She'll never know if you do it day before the trans work. From what I here the trans upgrade puts more power to the ground so it's like adding more power to the engine except better cause you can use it? Do it man! Don't dilly dally here! We're talking Power to the wheels.

I have to hand it to you Jrandol. You have faith in those guys. There is no way in he!! I would've left my truck there after what you had witnessed. Even if I had not wanted to be a A-hole about it, I would've found some excuse to leave. :)
