2014 engines for Dodge Ram 6.7 diesel, 800 ft# torq and 850 ft # torq. Does anyone know what changes occur in the motor to increase from 800 to 850? Doing serious shopping/comparing now.

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess it's in the Engine Control Module (ECM) torque management programing.

From what I have read is the Asian is slightly more efficient so there is less power loss in the transmission. That does not account for all the extra power though. I would agree it is software only. My guess is the extra power is ONLY when in the higher gears and all parameters or correct. All manufactures use some "tricks" to get the HP/torque numbers that they want. I would bet that the MAX numbers are not there till after the trans has shifted and after a delay to make sure the power train can handle the engine output. All that said, I am looking now too and will not look at anything other than an Asian.

When comparing the 850 torque vs 800 torque engines in the 2014 to 2015 6.7L's, do you know if there are any differences in engine parts?

There shouldn't be any difference . It's all about the ECU and what trans is behind as mentioned above. Asian trans is the cats puss....
