Here is another thought... I'd be interested in seeing how Nissan dealers would handle a diesel motor all of a sudden. Ie, diesel mechanics and diesel service... . At least Dodge/Ram dealers are already use to having diesel trucks to work on and to know. I personally would be needing some hard convincing to go to my local Nissan Dealer for a diesel pickup (even if it was a Cummins) I already have a very good confort level with my Dodge/Ram dealer in regards to diesel trucks. My local nissan dealer is crap...

A good point. There would be a steep learning curve to get people trained and lots of expensive service department software that manufacturers would demand dealers purchase. Many Dodge dealers still don't have real diesel mechanics after all these years.

I think it is a good thing, but will it be trouble free, will it not cost so much more like the CTD option, and will it perform as good as a Hemi. The downside I see is they will take away buyers from their own HD line. If a 1500 can do a better job with a diesel, then why pay a premium for the 2500, if your not using it to its full potential.

I had to laugh out loud as I read those two comments about heavy towing with the new 1/2 tons. It is surely coming to a campground near us.

True, but it also might keep a few people driving a Dodge 1500 Diesel instead of jumping ship to a EcoBoAst Ford 150... . I look forward to looking at real numbers, diesel option price, Payload ratings, fifth wheel tow rating, (IF any), bed lenghth options, and tow ratings. I've seen a few smaller and lighter fifth wheels being towed by Toyota Tundras and Ford 150. Not everyone needs a 40' toy hauler or desires a 30' bumper pull trailer... .

It may take buyers from the HD RAM, for sure, but it will also attract customers from prospective Ford and Chevy HD buyers. It would be all I need, but there is no way I would get rid of my '03 to get one.

Ya, you already see 25' boats launching with Tundra's, that's at least 8-10 thousand pounds. I was next to one on the ramp when I idled out of the water and his was revving at max rpm. Should of seen his face when he looked over at me.

I agree with Harvey and the other two posters. I do not know how many users are bragging up their Toyota Tundra and the Ford Ecoboost pick-up trucks. They are pulling lager camper trailers and all of a sudden they are asking why does my trailer sway or can I buy a 11,000 LBS + 5er to tow now, on these camping forums that I am on also. There is one title for a thread that states and I quote “So just how much weight are you towing with an ecoboost”.

God in heaven if you try and explain the laws of physics to them and weight limits on the P metric tires or the stop power required for their tow load. It is if you are speaking in “tongues” to them, they just don't understand.
