Competition Rebuild Questions

Competition Oh My Gosh Piers

Why is it that at least three times I've been at a stop light next to differant and obvioulsly modified 24 V RAMs with 4" or 5" exhausts and dual or three gauge pillar mounted gauge sets, and they don't even look over at me or try to give a 'thumbs up' sign? (I know they see my set-up)

Have they never heard of the 'TDR?'

Hate it as you may. . I'd blame your location... CA is not known for extremely friendly folks especially on the road, everybody is worried someone is going to pull a gun on you in traffic or carjack you... I'm not trying to poke fun at our CA TDR members it is just something I too have noticed, but once I cross into any other state everybody is waving at you... .

:D

I pulled next to a Phord Powerjoke on the freeway the other day and he had it all gizmo'd out with the gauges, exhaust etc... I figured I could at least stir some trouble so I slowed down and sat right next to him... . totally obvious, it was just before night, and he could see my gauges and badges on the side I'm sure..... but he didn't even give me a single eye... .

Good lookin Dodge pulls up next to a (cough) good lookin Phord and not even a blink... .

totally ruined my night..... had my edge box cranked up the whole bit... . for nuthin.

Musta been Skeered!!!!

Now that's just wrong, gotta draw the line somewhere... ... ... ... . ;)

I remember when I bought my first Cummins last year. I had a guy walking through the local fast food joint parking lot checking out my truck. I got out of the truck and was getting a package out of the back when he yelled, "Yeah how bought that Cummins" as he headed towards his truck 3 spaces down. I thought he was nuts, :D but talked to him for a couple minutes. That was the first run in I had of with a fellow Cummins lover. Now, 22 payments later, I understand. It is just the loyalty of a fellow Cummins owner. I get head nods and waves all the time from Cummins drivers on the road.

Actually, I'm trying to get rid of my pillar guages because people are starting to look for that sort of thing. No chrome, no badges, ordinary looking pipe out the back. Trouble is, it doesn't "sound " normal. ;>)

I live in Southern California, I can get an occasional thumbs up but I have noticed an attitude with others. Sometimes I get the impression that who I'm waiving, nodding or giving a thumbs up to might be thinking I'm hitting on them or something similar!

I actually had a guy in a little rice burner pass me and shoot me a bird for no obvious reason in Atlanta the other day. So I just caught up with him and noticed his window was down. I eased up until my exhaust was right at his window and at about 1400 rpms, I let him have all the smoke that my Drag Comp and DD 4's would give until I hit about 2500 rpm's and barked the turbo when I let off. For some reason he didn't bother catching me to shoot me another bird.

I lived in Atlanta for 13 years, down there you need to be careful, he might be wiping the soot off his trigger finger

Before I got any bombs in, I lined up one night next to a tan or brown CTD at the intersection of Highways 287 and 66, northbound out of Longmont. His were the first A-pillar gauges I'd ever seen. He started revving and egging me on so I let my stock horses run when the light went green. He had a manual transmission and the way that guy rowed was something to see. He didn't beat me bad, but he beat me clean and kept pulling away.

Now that I've properly "invested" in my truck, I've been looking for that boy ever since. He's got a whuppin' coming, but I can't find him!

Since then I've taken out two powerchokes, a duramax, and a Cobra Mustang at that same light, but never managed to line up another Ram.

Line up in the left lane - always. If they don't look, black out the sky. They'll look. Trust me... :D

thats crazy, i get in races every day, ... i race cummins, powerpuffs and duraslugs all day long. I had a good race with a 24V that kicked my stock 160 pump all to hell, but my dads hoped up 215 pm, pdr cam, b-1 and crazy fuelling ripped him a new a new u know what a couple of days ago. I about threw that stupid pump on the other day when that 24v beat me, lol. My buddy always asked me how i got into so many races, . . now that he has 370's, 11 plate, 215 pump, pdr 40, he gets in tons of races too.

STACKS!!!!!

Stacks is all you need!;) I used to go looking for a good race, now that I have stacks people come looking for me! Now every kid in a gasser that has dual exhaust sticking strait out under the back bumper has it in for me. And with the diesels, all it normaly takes is a puff or two of smoke catch their eye!;) (Gassers don't seem to understand) Only problem is, often I am faced with a challenge and my poor truck just woken up on a 15 degree morning and is in no condition for racing!!!!

I totally agree with the guy that stated that: "he wished he could get rid of the "three-pillar gauge" set-up which, draws attention to any truck!" Fine, that's your call. However, I really like auto's that are 'sleepers' looking, but, when push comes to shove, they just smoke the loser at the line!

For example, my father-in-law, He has built up a 1965 Chevy Chevelle, with a '388?' 'Blueprinted' engine that he has run the 1/4 in 11. ? (BTW) It's for sale for $11,900.

It will beat ANY Dodge Ram except Novell's, maybe.
