I'm thinking about moving up to a larger turbo & can't deside if I should go with a Dodgezilla or KSB1-B. I currently have a PDR35-12wg , dd2, comp box(no wire yet), dtt auto transmission. I don't have a real egt problem yet , but I think if I tap the wire I will. I want to stay with the hx35 configuration, as I have a pac brake. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

p. s. has any body tried wrapping the turbo housing & down pipe to help keep under hood temps down? Have at er guys.

I would go with the DZ because it will be easier to get the brake to fit up. It's also about $700 cheaper... .

If you plan on hitting the thing with nitrous or the like anytime soon, then the B1 might be a better approach.

I'm leaning towards a DZ or equivilant. The B1's are just more pricey than I want to go and I'm not going to be very rough on a turbo. Was going to go to a PDR 40 but like you wanted to keep the brake and didn't want to spend the money on a inline brake.

DZ with a 14cm housing a tap that pump you will love it!!!

anyone actually running the ksb-1 bomber I hear it is the b1 that is desined for stick trannys lotsa satisfied DZ owners but what about the ksb-1 b in a side by side

I have the KSB1B, I can't say enough about it. It's beefy, keeps cool, very nice range, spools low... total package. Nothing is for certain but I am reasonably sure based on it's track record that I will never be able to damage this turbo with the mods I have or plan on getting. Some day it will have a B2 paired with it :D .

I can identify with people not wanting to spend the extra cash but I wanted to do it right the first time. With my listed mods pulling a 20k trailer or showing a ricer what for, my highest temp is 1395F thats according to my SPA High temp recall feature. Good luck with whichever you choose.

The more I think about the KSB1B, the more I think that the turbine housing is too small.

I think you may want to consider an external wastegate with this turbo. IMHO, that would be the best of both worlds: Fast spoolup AND decent cooling.

Considering that the B1 compressor will support 550+hp, it's pretty sad that the KSB1B has such a tight housing that it's nearing the limit at only 425 hp. I think an external gate could make this thing even BETTER than a full B1, as it would spool way faster and still cool on top. Set the gate at like 42psi and there you have it.

Now, in a twins setup, a KSB1B with a LARGE external gate is an AWESOME setup, imo.

The other thing is exhaust outlets. The HX35 outlet option on a B1 is pretty counterproductive, as it's so restrictive.

soo your saying that a ksb1 is just a b1 with a titer turbine housing? but the same compressor

so in a nut shell the only diffrence in the b1 bomber line excluding b2 or big brother of course is the exaust housings ?

So what about the b1-2 should be just right is it avalible in the ex4.

just don't want a big laggy turbo that has to be floor boared to spool and makes slow low rpm street driving a bore

did you ever get your f1 m4s in what are they like #s

Nope. There are two variables: housing size and pinwheel (turbine wheel) size. The Full B1 uses the larger wheel and larger housing. Kwikspool B1 is smaller housing, but larger wheel. B1B is larger housing but smaller wheel. KSb1b is small housing AND small wheel.

That said, all the variables are on the turbine side-- i. e. housing and wheel. The compressor housings and wheels are the same on all models, as far as I know.

The other thing that confuses people in the B1 naming is the exhaust OUTLET-- i. r. ex3, ex4, etc. All that means is how the outlet is configured. Ex3 is HX35 outlet, Ex4 is HX40 outlet, 04 means it's setup for the HPCR trucks with the factory 4" downpipe. No suffix means it's setup for a B1 downpipe, which is like a half-Marmon or something that I don't know. Most people opt for the Ex4 just because HX40 downpipes are easy to find. However, the full B1 outlet flows the best, and the EX3 outlet (which is setup like an HX35 outlet to use exhaust brakes and such) is very restrictive.

Still waiting on my Mach 4s-- it's been over 6 weeks:(

Ok now I'm confused Hohn. You said: Kwikspool B1 is smaller housing, but larger wheel. B1B is larger housing but smaller wheel. KSb1b is small housing AND small wheel.

OK I said I have a KSB1B because I assumed that meant the quick Kwikspool  ? That's what I was told when checking these out is that the KSB1B was the quickspool... . I have the Kwikspool B1B.

Never mind, I re read a few times and I finally realized what's going on... just one of those days.

so where does the b1-2 fit in large wheel medium housing and what is a FULL b1 all I have ever seen is b1 bomber as the large charger with the exception of the b1 steroid It must be big pinwheel+ bigger inducer like 64 insted of 62 or am I wrong

What does the phat shaft 62 have in common with these it must be comparable or is it bigger

Just felt like reviving an old dissusion I am still set on a b1 series as all the s300 based chargers are hard to find might as well get the best!

I had a S300 off a 8. 1L John Deere Tractor that i traded about 3 weeks before i bought my Dodge (go figure). The turbo had the curved outlet like the phat shaft but no wastegate. How much is a Dodgezilla Turbo, I have been thinking about that turbo since i want to keep my brake where it is at.

The Dodgezilla is under 11 bills with the 14cm housing. I've been running a dodgezilla for over 2 years and it really does a great job towing and playing

I'm with Bob on this one. It's an easy install and performance is good. Be sure to bench test and adjust the waste gate when/if you get one, mine was set at 45. Mike

So which setup is preferred wastegated or non wastegated, i see they sell the zilla in both styles. I want to be at about 400 and still tow ,nothing crazy as far as hp is concidered. I just want to burn the fuel and cool it down a bit. Which setup would you guys recomend, fuel wise i am going with 125 jammers.
