I know what you guys mean... I'd feel uneasy if I let my hubby drive mine... . hard on clutches and paint jobs!

His rig... . an ol 6. 9 ltr Ford with auto. He says he drives truck all day, doesn't need to on his off time.

Fine by me.

That's why Dodge makes a Durango... We're both so happy we can barely keep the seats dry! She drove mine one time and she still hasn't got over how big it is!:-laf

wife to be loves the truck..

six months with the ram, 26000 miles. Over half she was driving. She drops me off at work every day, then we switch at lunch and I get it for a while. She can't wait for more power!!! As soon as I have time the silencer ring will disapear (maybe for her valentines day gift, she loves all this noise).

If you are in the left lane and are being tailgated by a white sport flashing the headlights at you... then thats my gal! She keeps asking how we can beat the little imports of the line and she wants better mileage @ 85 mph.

I do have to keep her away from the trailer though. That is scarier than her racing through the parking garage (with the windows down of course)

Can hardly wait for the wedding date. Perfect truck & perfect girl.

My wife started driving my truck full time last week after she smashed up her 4Runner. It'll be a month before she gets hers back from the body (and frame) shop. The Dodge is now our only CTV (Canine Transportation Vehicle). Am I nervous? Well yeah.

Oo. The only time my wife will, willing drive the truck is out on the interstate when I'm tired and she starts worrying about me. She says that the truck is too big. Once she get going though she likes it just fine. I'm looking at replacing the 98 Dakota with something else. I want to become a 100% diesel family instead of this half and half stuff. So I'm looking for something for her in the way of a diesel. If Dodge would build one of their Caravans with a Diesel, I snap one up in a minute for her. :D

Mine drives the "Limo" occasionally. On long trips she'll take the wheel so I can sleep. She will drive it in town occasionally but avoids having to back it up. Ever since that little incident of backing it into the house:rolleyes: Oh well, I will do the backing for her, she does a great job in 1st through 6th:D

Newf,

Accidents do happen. I bet if you worked with your wife a little on what to look for ( how much further after you can't see it )and give her a little encouragement "R" could be added to the list.

For all the women out there reading my posts on this subject there are a few things I'd like to say:

1. Not ALL women are bad drivers..... I only speak for the one I knew.

2. Not ALL guys are MASTERS behind the wheel either. Geees some of us STILL won't ask directions. I print mine off the computer.

3. I enjoy reading all the posts on this subject again, count your lucky stars that you feel safe enough to sleep while your spouse drives the truck or any vehicle for that matter.

4. Hopefully this thread will spur communication between you and your spouse to work on each others not so great points on driving. Do so in a positive loving manner... ... . Valentines Day is coming. And no, getting them driving lessons for Valentines Day isn't cool.

Get this

I or I better say We, have had ours since July 01, 01. Wife says get it with an auto so she can drive, well. She hasnt even sat behind the wheel. :--)

No Problem!

My wife cut her drivin' teeth pulling a two horse Miley behind a 1966 Mustang 289. Our Ram is a 5 speed, and she manages it just fine. I gotta say I do have a little apprension about her pulling our 27 foot travel trailer from AZ to MO next June for Bearded Collie Camp at the Purina ranch. I might have to go just to drive, even with the cab full of fuzzy dogs.

I feel good,

my wife can drive the truck anytime she wants to.

I(we)got the truck in 2000 and she has not driven it once.

This does not bother me. She says its too big. :D :D :D

no problems with mine driving. she has even pulled the camper a few miles:see sig: had to laugh at the look on some guys faces when my dodge pulled up at the boat ramp with my 270 sea-ray in tow and a WOMAN got out of the drivers seat:--) :D

She's not my wife yet... (any last thoughts Fireman Dave?) but she does fine when she drives my 3500. I taught her how to use the spot mirrors and she had to back it into a space w/out turning around before she could drive it. Only complaint is that my mpg drops about 3 mpg when she drives. I think she lets it drop below 1500.

Wife has her own!

Wife got her Cummins before I got one!

She loves her truck and says she won't ever drive anything else.

We love both of our Cummins trucks!

Sincerely,

Tim

How long ya got to go, Mark? Remember, there's still time to save yourself. If not for yourself, do it for the rest of us - for whom it is already too late. :p ;) LOL - just kidding. Good luck!:)

Fireman Dave-

About 5 yrs and counting. Her parents said she had to graduate college first or else they'd cut her off. . They drive PHORDs so I guess it figures... :D

Well if it wasn't for her driving my truck, She wouldn't have bought her own :-laf

I'm not sure though. I think she gets more nervous when I take her truck.

wife driving

I've had my truck for about a year and 8600 miles, the wife has driven a total of 10 mi. She is not too good w/a manual but she can drive it. I personally think that she is scared of its size and noise. I think if she had some more seat time, she might be asking to drive it more. I would LUV to se her dragrace a riceburner and win. (Iwould be so proud of her and the truck) Iguess I'll have to give her some more driving time.

I have no problem letting Mrs Doc drive my truck. In fact she drove for a while on our trip to Florida, towing the trailer. She probably drives better than me.

She claims she doesn't like the big smelly truck, but what does she take everytime she runs to the store??
